Citizenship Foundation
The Citizenship Foundation is an independent charity which "aims to empower individuals to engage in the wider community through education about the law, democracy and society." It works with schools and young people to promote participation in community and public life, education for citizenship, and an understanding of citizens' rights and duties. The news section of the website contains press releases and a newsletter. Information on the work of the Foundation includes its background, annual report and support base.
Leasehold Advisory Service
Website of a London based advisory service which provides free information about the law concerning leasehold property. A selection of full-text advice documents are made available on the site in HTML dealing with issues such as collective enfranchisement, the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal and obtaining a lease extension. Also included are reports dealing with leasehold reform including a guide to the Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002 and a link to the full-text of the act in HTML. Leasehold Valuation Tribunal decisions and determinations are available in full in PDF format.
Expert Witness Institute
Website of the Expert Witness Institute (EWI), an organisation set up in 1996 to support expert witnesses. The site gives organisational information about the EWI, the work of its committees and a diary of events, courses and seminars. The site also includes EWI newsletters and position papers, professional guidance for members, news items and a page of links. Parts of the site are only available to members of the EWI.
Environmental Law Foundation
The Environmental Law Foundation (ELF) is a national UK charity which links communities and individuals to legal and technical experts who can provide advice and information on how the law can help resolve environmental problems. ELF was established in 1992 and consists of a network of environmental solicitors, barristers, consultants and academics, who provide free initial advice and assistance and then, if required, further support on either a free, at cost or reduced-fee rate.
Law Centres Federation
Website of the Law Centres Federation (LCF) the co-ordinating body for law centres in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The site includes background information about the LCF and the history and development of law centres and access to justice. Guidance is given to the work of the law centres along with contact details to all law centres arranged by region. Policy and research documents, leaflets and copies of the LCF newsletter are also provided. Parts of the site are restricted to members only.
Great Britain-China Centre
The Great Britain-China Centre exists to promote understanding between Britain and China, focusing in particular on legal and judicial reform. The website has information on projects dealing with human rights reporting, the police, judicial studies training and the death penalty. The Centre's journal, the China Review, is available on the site from 2006 onwards.
