New Zealand Law Librarians Association

The aim of the New Zealand Law Librarians Association (NZLLA) is to promote law librarianship by providing a national and regional focus for information specialists working in the legal sector. It encourages developments that will further improve the usefulness and efficiency of law libraries and fosters a spirit of cooperation among members of the group. The website provides information on the organisation, past and future conferences, special projects and articles written by NZLLA members. Copies of NZLLA's Principles of Professional Conduct can be downloaded from the site.

New Zealand Law Society

The website of the New Zealand Law Society (NZLS) provides information about the work of the organisation, including its committees and sections. Selected articles from "LawTalk" (the NZLS magazine) are available back to 2008. The site also includes other NZLS publications, information about practising law in New Zealand, general legal information for the public, news and other resources.

Directory of Decisions

The Directory of Decisions is made available by the Law Library at the University of Waikato, New Zealand. The Directory provides information on the various courts, tribunals, statutory authorities, ombudsmen, panels and commissioners who make legal or quasi-legal decisions. Records give information regarding the jurisdiction of the bodies, governing legislation and availability of decisions. There are also contact details, links to individual wesbites and full text decisions where available.

New Zealand Legal Information Institute

The New Zealand Legal Information Institute (NZLII) is a joint project of the University of Otago, the Victoria University of Wellington and the Australasian Legal Information Institute (AustLII). It provides free access to decisions of New Zealand courts and tribunals, starting at various dates in the 1990s and 2000s; New Zealand acts in force (all dates); selected articles from six legal journals, the New Zealand Treaty Series (1944 - ); and publications of the New Zealand Law Commission. The content can be browsed or searched.

Advertising Standards Authority Inc. New Zealand

The website of the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) offers detailed information about self-regulatory principles and practice for the advertising industry in New Zealand. The site gives full-text access to "the Codes" as developed by the ASA, each code relating to a specific area of advertising activity. There is also a section on procedures to be followed when making a complaint to the Advertising Standards Complaints Board. Full text decisions made by the Board from 2000 onwards can be searched and browsed on the site.

Computers and Law Journal

The Computers and Law Journal is published quarterly by the Australian and New Zealand Societies for Computers and the Law. The Journal's intended readership includes legal practitioners, academics and computer and telecommunications company executives. Computers and Law Journal has feature articles, case notes and book reviews covering legal issues relating to information technology, the Internet, computer software, telecommunications and intellectual property. Journal articles older than a year can be viewed in full on the AustLII site.

New Zealand Privacy Commissioner

The New Zealand Privacy Commissioner is an independent Crown entity operating under the Privacy Act 2020. Its website provides information about the work of the Commissioner's Office and about the Privacy Act. It includes reports, codes of practice and guidance for the public, as well as compliance information for businesses and organisations. The sites also provides summaries of the Commissioner's decisions, Humans Rights Review Tribunal decisions and court cases in which the Commissioner has intervened.

The Law Association of New Zealand

The Law Association of New Zealand (TLANZ), formerly the Auckland District Law Society (ADLS), is the professional body representing barristers and solicitors in New Zealand. Its website has an overview of its history and current role, together with information about membership and continuing professional development. It also provides details of TLANZ mediation services, legal news, a directory of lawyers and a link to a legal forms site. A collection of resources for members is available via a login.

Courts of New Zealand

Official website of Courts of New Zealand, the body responsible for court administration in New Zealand. Includes a database of selected higher court judgments, called Judicial Decisions of Public Interest and mostly consisting of criminal cases and other judgments of public interest. The site also has information about the role, structure and history of the courts and explains the functions of the Judicial Committees and the Rules Committee. There is also information about the judiciary. Sections covering the individual courts provide legislation, daily lists and case summaries.
