Special Tribunal for Lebanon: an introduction and research guide

Online research guide to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon written by Martin Wählisch and updated by Lara Eid Jreissati who is an international lawyer specialising in International Criminal Law, Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Law. The guide was published in 2012 (and updated in 2022) on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School at the New York University School of Law. The author provides history and background to events leading to the establishment of the Tribunal.

UNCTAD Investment Dispute Settlement Navigator

Compilation of information about pending and concluded arbitrations from 1987 onwards, provided on the UNCTAD website. ICSID, UNCITRAL, ICC and other cases are covered. For concluded cases, the information provided includes dates, parties and countries, the type of investment, the legal instrument involved, the arbitration rules/venue, brief details of the decision, the amount sought and the amount awarded. Reprieve

Reprieve is a London-based charity providing legal representation and assistance for prisoners facing the death penalty and prisoners held beyond the rule of law, for example at Guantanamo Bay; it also investigates and campaigns on issues such as drone attacks and extraordinary rendition. The organisation was founded by human rights lawyer Clive Stafford Smith. The ‘Our Work’ page of its website provides reports, responses to consultations and other publications, together with information and documentation relating to Reprieve investigations and particular prisoners’ cases.

Qatar Law Forum

Qatar Law Forum is an international conference hosted in Doha under the patronage of the Emir of Qatar. It aims to discuss the Rule of Law and related issues of international law and has been convened twice, in 2009 and 2012. The forum’s English website provides links to news articles relating to the forum and also provides documents on the discussions including newsletters, the text of some of the speeches and a discussion paper on the role of ethics in finance. The site also features YouTube clips of the conference and photographs.

Collected Travaux Préparatoires

Directory of travaux préparatoires (preparatory documents) for treaties, provided by the Lillian Goldman Law Library at Yale University. Lists travaux préparatoires that have been published in printed form and/or online. Includes contents pages for many items and has links to some full-text documents. The directory is an ongoing project and new contributions are invited.

Aegis

Aegis campaigns against genocide and crimes against humanity. It is a registered charity in the UK and US and a registered NGO in Rwanda. The Aegis website describes its work and makes available its reports, briefings and other publications. It also has a News page.

Researching League of Nations Documents

Guide to researching the documentation of the League of Nations, by Gabriela Femenia, Foreign and International Law Library at the University of Pennsylvania’s Biddle Law Library. The research guide was published in 2012 (and updated in 2024) on the Globalex website, which is run by the Hauser Global Law School Program at New York University. It covers the types of documents produced by the League of Nation and their reference numbers and discusses print, microfilm and electronic sources of these documents.
