ORA Open Book Collection

Open access collection of written academic research, hosted by the Oxford University Research Archive (ORA). Its contents include theses, books, datasets, articles and other forms of information. The site can be browsed using a search function and results can be filtered by title, author or keyword. This site is largely open to all; however, some results may require institutional access to view.

SRA Standards and Regulations

The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) sets and enforces professional standards for the solicitor’s profession in England and Wales. Its standards and regulations, which replaced the SRA Handbook in November 2019, include accounting rules, financial rules, a code of conduct, ethical requirements, indemnity insurance rules and other provisions. The site also covers enforcement and appeal procedures.

Human Dignity Trust

The Human Dignity Trust is a British charity providing legal expertise to LGBT activists in countries where private, same-sex, consensual sexual activity is illegal. It supports strategic litigation and provides advice on reforming discriminatory laws. Its website has detailed global information about criminal laws regarding sexual orientation and gender identity, with a map, a history of LGBT criminalisation and a tool showing the status of criminal laws in Commonwealth jurisdictions. There is also a set of videos covering court cases, activists’ stories and related topics.

UK-EU Relations Law

Website focusing on the new legal relationship between the UK and the EU, post Brexit, written by Jack Williams of Monckton Chambers. The site gives an overview of this new developing area of law between the EU and UK and provides links to relevant legal materials. These include UK-EU agreements, EU and UK legislation, legal cases and various policy documents/guidance. There is also a blog covering all aspects of the subject, dating back to June 2020, which can be searched by keyword and browsed by topic or date.

UK Planning Law Blog

The UK Planning Law Blog is compiled by the Planning and Public Law team at global law firm Dentons. The blog highlights new developments in planning law covering topics including new towns, neighbourhood plans, planning guidance and affordable housing. Posts can be searched by keyword or browsed by topic.

Access to Justice Foundation

Website of the Access to Justice Foundation a national charity that raises funds for organisations that improve access to justice for the most vulnerable in society. Grants are provided to law centres, CABx, legal support trusts and other organisations providing social welfare legal advice and pro bono legal services. The site has details of fund raising events and guidance on organising an event and information on organisations that have received grants.

Refugee Law Initiative

The Refugee Law Initiative (RLI) is an academic centre at the School of Advanced Study, University of London carrying out interdisciplinary research and teaching with a focus on law, policy and practice. The website gives details of courses, consultancy and events, research projects and publications. Information is provided about the RLI's Refugee Law Clinic, which provides pro bono legal advice for refugee clients. There is also a blog on refugee law and forced migration.

University of Oxford: Law Blogs

This site provides access to the various blogs hosted by the Faculty of Law at the University of Oxford. The blogs cover subjects including border control, criminology, commercial and business law, human rights and family and medical law. Contributors include faculty members, students, specialists and authors from other institutions. Most of the blog posts can be searched by keyword, author or date.

Commonwealth Parliamentary Association

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) is a membership organisation for Commonwealth Parliaments and Legislatures which promotes parliamentary democracy, human rights and the rule of law. Its website gives information on the CPAs work, which includes conferences, online courses, workshops and webinars along with the development of publications, toolkits and handbooks. Programmes are aimed at parliamentarians and parliamentary staff and focus on parliamentary practice and procedure.
