Early English Laws

The Early English Laws project has undertaken to produce new editions and translations of all English law codes, edicts and treatises up to the year 1215, and to publish them on this website and in print. Numerous new editions are already available on the Laws page, together with digitized versions of the original source manuscripts. It is possible to view corresponding pages of the manuscripts and edited texts side-by-side, and scholars may add their comments online. The Reference page provides a set of essays, a bibliography and a glossary.

Natalie Gamble Associates

Website of Natalie Gamble Associates a UK law firm specialising in English fertility law and parenting law. The site provides biographical information on solicitors Natalie Gamble and Louisa Ghevaert, information on the services offered by the firm and a blog. There is also background information and guidance on the following topics: donor conception and co-parenting; surrogacy; embryos, sperm and eggs and parenting and children.

Victims' Rights Working Group

Website of the Victims' Rights Working Group (VRWG), a network of over 300 national and international civil society groups and experts working to protect the rights of victims who are involved in cases before the International Criminal Court (ICC). The site provides information about the VRWG, including a copy of the strategic plan and links to organisations affiliated to VRWG. Information and documentation on the rights of victims is also provided including links to legislation, forms, cases and other relevant documents.

UK Supreme Court blog

This blog was set up in June 2009, a few months before the UK Supreme Court opened. Written by lawyers at Matrix Chambers and Olswang LLP, it provides news and commentary on the Supreme Court and its judgments, with links to original sources including articles, speeches, podcasts, cases and press articles. Links are given to judgments and upcoming hearings of the Court, and to related websites.

First-tier Tribunal (Tax)

Website of the Tax Chamber of the First-tier Tribunal which hears appeals against decisions relating to tax made by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC). Taxes covered include income tax, corporation tax, national insurance contributions, VAT, custom duties, excise duties and landfill tax. The website explains the role and organisation of the Tribunal and gives guidance on making an appeal including providing the appropriate forms to download. Tribunal decisions can be downloaded from the site in full text back to 2002.

Trust Law Committee

The Trust Law Committee is an organisation of academics and practitioners devoted to improving the law of trusts in England and Wales. The organisation was set up in 1994 and its website is hosted at King's College, London. The site gives the names of members of the Committee and outlines the process that has to be undergone to improve the law. Consultation papers and reports published by the Committee can be freely downloaded from the site.

Satellites and Law

Satellites and Law is a research programme based at the Centre for Law and the Environment at University College London. The programme deals with issues surrounding the use of satellites for monitoring and enforcing environmental laws. The site has information on research projects taking place looking at the use of satellites in legal systems, privacy issues in using satellite imagery in courts and national and international experience of using satellite imagery as a legal monitoring and compliance tool.

Law Donut

The Law Donut web resource provides practical legal information aimed at small businesses. Information on the site is arranged by topic including finding, buying and selling a business, insolvency, trading law, remuneration and pensions, intellectual property and premises. Each section gives an overview to the law in that area along with practical advice and guidance. There is a more detailed section on employment law for small businesses covering issues such as health and safety, discipline and grievance, recruiting and managing staff and employment contracts.

Lockerbie Trial: Scottish Courts

This is an official website maintained by the Scottish Courts. It provides free access to information relating to the trial of the alleged terrorists involved in the bombing of the PanAm jumbo jet over Lockerbie in 1988. It includes the judgments of the Lockerbie trial and the outcome of the appeal of defendant Abdelbaset Ali Mohamed Al Megrhi in 2002.

Lands Tribunal for Scotland

Official website of the Lands Tribunal for Scotland an independent civil court dealing with disputes involving land or property such as valuations for rating on non-domestic premises, tenantsã rights to purchase their public sector houses, disputes relating to compensation for compulsory purchase of land and appeals against the Keeper of the Registers of Scotland. The site provides historical and background information on the Tribunal, its functions and the work of its staff. Links are given to related legislation and there is guidance for users of the Tribunal.
