International Center for Transitional Justice

The International Center for Transitional Justice (ICTJ) is an organisation working with countries where there have been mass atrocities or abuses of human rights. The site outlines the Center's research, training and legal and policy analysis and makes available its reports, briefings and other publications. The organisation has initiatives in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.The site is in English, Spanish, French and Arabic.

Carr Center for Human Rights Policy

Website of the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy, founded in 1999 and based at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. A large collection of the Center's publications is available on the website for free, including research reports, conference reports and articles. Information is also provided about events and courses and there are profiles of the research fellows and staff.

International Municipal Lawyers Association

Website of the International Municipal Lawyers Association (IMLA) a membership organisation for local government lawyers based in the United States. The site provides information about the organisation including PDF copies of IMLA policy papers, annual reports, conference papers and the bi-monthly Municipal Lawyer magazine. A page of web links provides access to US local government resources including municipal codes and policies and city and county home pages. Details of conferences and seminars and a link to the IMLA blog are also given.

Law Library Microform Consortium

The Law Library Microform Consortium (LLMC) is a non-profit, library cooperative based at the University of Hawaii in the United States. The LLMC was founded in 1976 and provides a subscription service giving access to legal and government publications in microfiche format and digitally online. The site has online catalogues listing the titles offered in microfiche format. These include US federal and state legal materials, US military law, canon law, Anglo-American legal periodicals, Anglo-American legal treatises and a collection of native American legal materials.

Harry A. Blackmun Papers

Online guide to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Harry A. Blackmun's papers produced by the Manuscript Reading Room at the Library of Congress where the collection is housed and made freely available on their website. The collection includes papers from 1913 to 2001 with most of the material covering Justice Blackmun's time as a judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and as an associate justice of the Supreme Court.

New York State Law Revision Commission

Website of the New York State Law Revision Commission whose role is to examine defects and anachronisms in state law and make recommendations for reform. The site has information on the purpose and organisation of the Commission and profiles of Commission members. Recent Commission meeting notices as well as studies and reports are made freely available on the site in PDF format. A few webcasts of reports and meetings concerning the Commission's Alcoholic Beverage Control Law study are also available through Windows Media, Adobe Flash, or low speed video.

Uniform Law Commission

Website of the Uniform Law Commission (National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws), a non-profit organisation made up of Uniform Law Commissioners who are lawyers appointed by state governments to review state law increase uniformity. The site provides a copy of the ULC constitution and details of commissioners and standing committees. A copy of the drafting manual can be downloaded from the site in PDF format. There is a database of uniform and model acts which can be browsed by title or state giving legislation in full-text in a range of formats. 

WATCH File

The WATCH File (Writers, Artists, and Their Copyright Holders) is a database providing contact details for copyright holders who have unpublished material in libraries in North America and the United Kingdom. WATCH is aimed at scholars who may wish to use this material. The database is produced jointly by the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center at The University of Texas and the University of Reading Library. WATCH is searchable by name and a number of search tips are provided.

The Lawyers and Settlements website is provided by Canadian marketing company, Online Legal Marketing Ltd who specialise in advertising for lawyers and law firms. The site provides information and the latest news on personal injury and class action cases and settlements. Cases are categorised by subject including personal injury, defective products, dangerous drugs and stock fraud. The site provides a summary of the issue and details of possible cases, lawsuits filed and settlements achieved. Individual complaints can be submitted to subscribing lawyers on a contact form.

bepress Legal Repository

The bepress Legal Repository is a collection of freely available, law-related working papers contributed by a network of academic and research organisations and hosted on the Berkeley Electronic Press website. Indexed working paper collections cover topics including employment law, general law, health law and policy, intellectual property law, law and economics, law and society, public law and legal theory and taxation. The repository can be browsed by working paper collection, subject or institution and papers can be searched using a simple or advanced search facility.
