Diversity and Fairness in the Jury System

Report on Diversity and Fairness in the Jury System written by Cheryl Thomas with Nigel Balmer and published by the Research Unit of the UK Ministry of Justice in June 2007. The report presents findings from the Jury Diversity Project looking at under representation of ethnic minorities on juries and the effect of ethnicity on jury decision making. There are chapters in the report dealing with the following issues: juror summoning; jurors who serve and do not serve; jurors at court and jury decision making.

English Crime and Execution Broadsides

This Harvard Law School Library website provides access to the digitised images of around 600 broadsides (a form of street literature) reporting crimes or public executions from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The collection can be searched by keyword or browsed by title, name or subject. There are short and full bibliographic records for each item, including links to the images. Search tips and FAQs are also provided, along with background information about the collection.

The Safe Workers website is an advice and information resource focusing on workplace safety and UK employment law. The site brings together a collection of articles providing background information and practical advice on a range of employment law topics. Articles are organised by topic, including discrimination at work, employee relations, workplace safety and workplace bullying. All articles can be searched by keyword.

Disability Law Service

The Disability Law Service (DLS) is a UK charity providing information and advice for disabled people.  Its website has information about the DLS and its work, including its annual reports. Factsheets are provided on assessment of and services for disabled children, special educational needs, benefits and driving licences for disabled people. There is also information on training courses and campaigns, together with news and useful links.

Published on New York University's Globalex website and updated periodically, the guide covers the relevant legislation and case law and gives an overview of other sources, including government reports, monographs, treaties, journal articles and indexes, news sources, relevant organisations and websites. The Civil Mediation Council (CMC) is membership organisation for mediators in the UK. Its website has details of its officers and committees and provides news and a directory of mediation providers, together with information about mediator training and descriptions of workplace mediation, family mediation, civil and commercial mediation, community mediation and education mediation.
