European Ombudsman

Description:

The European Ombudsman (EO) is appointed by the European Parliament to consider complaints about the administration of European Union bodies and to adjudicate in cases of maladministration; the Ombudsman also carries out own-initiative inquiries. The EO website includes a database of pending and concluded cases; case documentation can also be browsed by type of document (decision, recommendation, and so on) and year (1990s onwards). The Resources section of the site includes the European Code of Administrative Good Behaviour, Public Service Principles for the EU Civil Service, historical documents about the European Ombudsman, and more. The website also gives guidance on making a complaint, provides news about the EO's activities and lists links to national ombudsmen and similar bodies in the EU member states. The interface is in all the languages of the EU, but much of the content is in English only.
