Guide to online research resources for the Australian federal legal system with some reference to the state level

Description:

Online guide to researching the Australian federal legal system written by Petal Kinder former Court Librarian at the High Court of Australia. Published on New York University's Globalex website in 2007 and updated periodically (most recently in 2024), the guide provides an introduction and background information to the Australian Parliament and the Australian court system. It gives information about the authorised Australian law report series and the authorised law reports for each state and has links to free and subscription online sources of Australian case law. The guide also covers legislative procedure, locating legislation and tracing the legislative history of an act, and has a section dealing with Australian treaties. Details of secondary legal sources, including books, journals, legal encyclopaedias, digests and dictionaries are also given.
