The journal 'American Law and Economics Review' was launched in 1999 by the American Law and Economics Association (ALEA). The Review is a refereed journal, published twice a year. It endeavours to publish international work that is accessible to the full range of membership in the ALEA, which includes practising lawyers, consulting economics and academic lawyers, and academic economists from around the world. The Review differs from other journals in the field in that it features book reviews and review essays.
The British Society of Criminology aims to "further the interests and knowledge, both academic and professional, of persons engaged in any aspect of teaching and research, or in the promotion and dissemination of knowledge, about crime and criminal behaviour, and the criminal justice systems in the United Kingdom". The Society publishes a newsletter four times a year and a conference is held every two years. Its website gives details of branch meetings.
The Portuguese Centro de Estudos Judiciários was set up under the auspices of the Portuguese Ministry of Justice to train judges and public prosecutors and to carry out research on judicial matters. Website of the International Court of Justice, the principal judicial organ of the United Nations. The site lists cases currently being heard by the Court and cases pending and provides information about the Court's role, jurisdiction and procedure. All judgments and advisory opinions are available, together with the decisions of the Permanent Court of International Justice. Other basic documentation includes the Court's statute, its rules, and the resolution on judicial practice. The site also available in English, French, Spanish and other languages.
This site was created by the European Parliament to provide information on its involvement in the Inter-Governmental Conference 2000, which paved the way for alterations to EU treaties so that new member states could join. In addition to archived news releases, it includes an overview of how EU treaties are revised and the role in this of the European Parliament. It also provides access to numerous full-text documents produced by the Parliament on this issue; they include parliamentary committee reports, resolutions, debates and speeches.
The State, Society and Governance in Melanesia Program is a project of the Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies at the Australian National University. The Program was established in 1996 to conduct research into the government, politics and causes of political crises in the Pacific Islands including Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, New Caledonia and Fiji. The site provides background details on the purpose of the project and access to full-text working papers and conference papers relating to it.
