Irish Penal Reform Trust

Website for the Irish Penal Reform Trust (IPRT), an independent organisation campaigning for dignity, justice and humane approaches in the development and implementation of penal systems, particularly in Ireland. The site outlines the Trust's aims and mission supported by the publication onsite of Trust Policy statements on matters such as the introduction of private prisons in Ireland and sentencing in the District Court. Policy responses and submissions and relevant press stories are also provided.

Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission

The Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission is an independent body established by the Northern Ireland Act 1998, as part of the "Good Friday Agreement". The Commission aims to defend and promote the human rights of everyone in Northern Ireland through law, policy and practice measured against international standards. The Commission's website explains its work, describes its statutory powers, lists its membership and publishes press releases and other documents.

ELSA: the European Law Students' Association

Website of ELSA, the European Law Students Association, an organisation for law students and recent graduates in Europe, which helps them to explore opportunities in Europe for working and learning, and helps to give them an international perspective in their studies. The site includes areas on legal research, events and human rights awareness. There are opportunities to join legal research groups and participate in student exchange programmes. Selected papers on European law can be downloaded as PDFs from the site.

Civil Justice Council

The Civil Justice Council is a UK public body which was set up under the Civil Procedure Act 1997 to keep the civil justice system under review, to advise the government and to make research proposals. Its web pages provide information about CJC working parties and make available publications including responses to official consultations, research papers and annual reports.

The Federation Against Software Theft

Website of the Federation Against Software Theft (FAST), an organisation set up to protect the intellectual property of software publishers through parliamentary lobbying, education and raising awareness amongst users. The site offers a summary of the main points of the law on software licensing and theft, information on the types of piracy, and answers to frequently asked questions. Guidance on how to make a complaint about infringement and a glossary of terms are included. Other features include information on how to join and a page of related web links.

Florida State Courts: Opinions, Rules and Other Court Documents

Official Court site offering free access to the text of opinions and other documents from the US State of Florida. Opinions from the Florida State Supreme Court and the District Courts of Appeal are given with varying back runs. The Florida Rules of Procedure are also offered by the service. Other documents provided include the Code of Judicidal Conduct, reports of the Office of Inspector General and family law forms and rules. Documents are published in PDF.

European Union Treaties

Treaties section of the European Union's law website, EUR-Lex. Provides the founding treaties, accession treaties and treaties amending the founding treaties, plus protocols. The treaties include the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU) and the Treaty on European Union (TEU). Consolidated versions are offered for the TFEU, TEU and a few of the other treaties. The interface is in all the official languages of the EU, but not all of the treaties are in all these languages.

Netherlands Institute for the Law of the Sea

The Netherlands Institute for the Law of the Sea (NILOS) was established in 1984 at the Utrecht University. NILOS is a research institution involved with all issues related to the law of the sea, including conservation of marine natural resources. The site describes the activities of the Institute and its staff, outlining the program of work, research and training projects and consultancy services. Work concentrates particularly on the processes by which a new international law of the sea is formed and national responsibilities for regulation.

Australian Treaties Library

The Australian Treaties Library is a free AustLII database containing treaties involving Australia, with status information. It includes the Australian Treaty Series (1900 - ); Australian Treaty National Interest Analyses (1996- ); Australian Minor Treaty Actions - Explanatory Statements (2012- ); Australian treaties not yet in force (1980- ); and reports of the Joint Standing Committee on Treaties (1996- ). Documents can be browsed by year or title and there is a search facility.
