Wex is an ambitious effort to construct a collaboratively-created, public-access law dictionary and encyclopedia. It comprises a series of guidance summaries on legal topics in United States law, sponsored by the Legal Information Institute at Cornell Law School and made freely available on the LII website. Broad topics covered by the series include: Commercial law; Criminal law and Criminal procedure; Employment; Energy; Intellectual Property; International law; Legal ethic; and Tax. An explanatory overview of each topic or sub-topic is supported by links to applicable US Federal and State laws, recent case decisions and other useful resources and references on the Internet - including links to relevant international materials. The guides can be accessed from an alphabetical listing of topics. There is guidance available for authors and editors. Wex "limit access to the Wex authoring apparatus as a way of ensuring that the quality of material here remains high."
