The author provides an introduction to travaux préparatoires, guidance on how to find them and details of publications which can help with this search. The guide provides information on printed and online sources oand uses particular examples of conventions to illustrate research methods; these include the Hague conventions, Geneva Conventions and international agreements of the Council of Europe, International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT) and the International Labour Organization (ILO).
