Emplaw

Emplaw is a subscription service hosted by the General Federation of Trade Unions (GFTU) and written by employment law specialists. The site provides guidance on a wide range of employment law topics and summaries of employment law decisions from the UK and European courts and tribunals. There is free access to employment law news stories and articles and to Emplaw Monthly, a review of developments in employment law which is available back to 2014. A directory of employment lawyers is also given.

Economica Vietnam

Website of Economica Vietnam a business consultancy based in Hanoi. The site can be viewed in English and provides free access to English translations of selected (mostly business related) Vietnamese laws including the Civil Code, Labor Code and Maritime Code. There is also a copy of the Vietnam Constitution.

Baker McKenzie: Global Arbitration Rules

International arbitration blog compiled by law firm Baker McKenzie and made freely available online. The blog has global arbitration news stories that can be browsed by region or topic. Other features include a calendar of upcoming arbitration events and a comparative chart of international arbitration rules. This enables cross checking of individual clauses across a range of arbitration rules. Copies of the Baker McKenzie International Arbitration Yearbook can be viewed on the blog providing legislative and case law updates from each jurisdiction.

Informa Law

Informa Law, an imprint of Routledge, publishes books for practitioners on subjects such as maritime law (these include Lloyd's Shipping Law titles), commercial law, dispute resolution and insurance law. The website gives details current Informa Law publications, grouped by area of law.

Law Brief Publishing

Website of Law Brief Publishing a legal publishing company founded in 2006. The site gives details of Law Brief publications which include practical guides for lawyers. Free samples and chapters from some of the books are provided on the site. The company publish PI Brief Update Law Journal, a monthly online subscription publication offering case law, news items and articles on personal injury law. There is also a free newsletter giving updates on recent cases in all the major areas of law. You are required to register on the site to receive this publication.

EU General Data Protection Regulation

This website is provided by IT company Trunomi and is designed to provide information to the public on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which comes into force on 25th May 2018. The site gives an overview of the main changes to data protection law being introduced by the GDPR along with an outline of the European Union legislative process and the GDPR timeline. There are links to the full text regulation and to articles and comment on law firm websites.

Ecclesiastical Law

The Ecclesiastical Law website is produced by Mark Hill QC of Francis Taylor Building Chambers and is intended to provide additional information for readers of his book, Ecclesiastical Law. There is a section on clergy discipline providing comment and guidance along with links to legislation. There is also information on faculty jurisdiction which relates to Church of England buildings. Links to full text articles written by Mark Hill are also freely available and cover subjects such as freedom of religion, Canon law and same-sex marriage in South Africa.

Ombudsman Services

The Ombudsman Services is a company providing a range of dispute resolution services focusing on energy, communications, property and consumer issues. Consumers whose complaint has exhausted the internal complaints procedure of a company participating in the scheme are invited to register a complaint. This is a free service for consumers. The site has information on making a complaint, a list of participating companies, guides aimed at students and the elderly and a page of useful links.

Sport Resolutions

Website of Sport Resolutions an independent, not-for-profit, dispute resolution service for sport in the UK. The company was established by key stakeholder groups in sport including the British Athletics Commission, Professional Players Federation and the British Olympic Association and deals with disputes in the following areas: anti-doping; athlete selection; commercial agreements; discrimination; player eligibility; promotion and relegation and safeguarding.

Cousins Business Law

Website of Cousins Business Law, a firm of commercial solicitors specialising in SMEs and family run businesses. The site offers a selection of free articles covering subjects relevant to small business such as outsourcing, contracts, IT and ecommerce. There is also a monthly ezine which can be freely downloaded from the site and a business law blog. Posts can be viewed by date or subject eg. partnership agreements, business disputes, licensing and laws and regulations.
