Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer (The)

The Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer was adopted in 1987 and has been amended several times since. The Protocol followed the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer (1985). It aimed to reduce and eventually eliminate the emissions of man-made ozone depleting substances. The Protocol is available here on the website of the UN Environment Programme, together with details of ratifications, the Handbook for the Montreal Protocol other information, in English, Arabic, French, Spanish, Chinese and Russian. 

Dispute Resolution Services: ICC: International Chamber of Commerce

Dispute resolution section of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) website. Provides information about the ICC International Court of Arbitration and other ICC dispute resolution services, covering costs, rules, model clauses and other topics. The Professional Development section has a link to the ICC Dispute Resolution Library (however, this is easier to find from library.iccwbo.org). The Dispute Resolution Library is partly fee-based, but has a free facility for looking up ICC awards to find out where they have been published.

International Labour Organization (ILO)

The International Labour Organization (ILO) is a specialised agency of the United Nations which seeks to promote employment rights, human rights and social justice. The website gives details of the ILO's history, structure and work programmes. It provides numerous free databases of labour-related information and documentation, including national labour laws, international labour standards, treaty information, statistics and a bibliography compiled by the ILO Library.

International Committee of the Red Cross

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is the leading international humanitarian organization. Its website has a substantial section devoted to international humanitarian law ('Law and War'). It includes the Geneva Conventions, with commentaries, and a database of customary international humanitarian law. The site also provides ICRC publications, including cases studies and the International Review of the Red Cross back to 2004 (plus two earlier issues), as well as e-learning modules. The site is available English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian and Portuguese.

Gobierno de Canarias

Official website of the government of the Canary Islands. It provides a gateway to government press releases, factual information about the region and its relations with Spain and a directory of links to government departments online. Also accessible are full-text legislation, government policy documents and the official Bulletin from 1980 onwards. All information is in Spanish only.

Recording Industry Association of America

The website of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) provides information about the organisation and its role in representing the US recording industry. One of its key goals is to help protect its members' legal rights in areas such as copyright enforcement and webcasting. Information on the site covers topical matters such as anti-piracy, copyright issues, music copyright notices and music and the internet. There is information about federal, state and international laws governing these areas.

International Portal of the University of Alicante on Intellectual Property and Information Society

This website is produced by the Law Faculty of the University of Alicante in Spain. It covers industrial and intellectual property law and the information society and is aimed at researchers, students, and professionals. The site provides a database of national, international and European Union legislation (in the original language) and a set of links to other relevant websites.

Secretariat for Legal Affairs, Organization of American States

The Secretariat for Legal Affairs forms part of the Organization for American States (OAS) providing advice and legal services to the OAS in the field of public international law and private international law. The OAS is a regional forum for dialogue and cooperation on political, economic and social issues in the Americas. The site explains the work of the Inter-American Specialized Conferences on Private International Law (CIDIP) who produce international instruments such as conventions, protocols, uniform documents and model laws which are provided on the site.

Consejo General del Poder Judicial

Website of the Spanish General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) which includes information about the CGPJ, the Supreme Court and the High Courts of Justice.There is organisational information, news, cases and details of publications. Information on the individual High Courts can be accessed via a clickable map of the regions. The site is available in Spanish only.

Union Internationale des Avocats

The Union Internationale des Avocats (UIA) is a non-governmental organisation established in 1927 to establish international contacts between lawyers. It seeks to promote and defend the legal profession, uphold international principles of human rights and justice and develop the body of international legal knowledge. Commissions of the UIA carry out research and development work on more than 40 aspects of law and legal practice.
