The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) is the regulator for nurses and midwives in the UK, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. Its website provides a searchable register of nurses and midwives. There is detailed information about fitness to practise hearings, including the outcomes of the most recent four months’ hearings and lists of forthcoming hearings; the Hearings page also has statistics going back to 2000/01. The site is the home of the online law report ‘Medical Litigation Cases’ (MLC), edited by Hall; the series covers medical negligence and related subjects such as coroners, medical product liability, sterilisation and wrongful birth. Non-subscribers may read the news items, access the links page and view case lists and article titles, but only subscribers can access full-text law reports and articles.
