Supreme Court of Nepal

Official website of the Supreme Court of Nepal. Includes a judgments database, cause lists and a collection of legislation including the Constitution of Nepal, court rules and the civil, civil procedure, criminal and criminal procedure codes, all in Nepali. There is also a Publications section, also in Nepali, containing the Nepal Law Reporter, Supreme Court Bulletin, Supreme Court User Charter, court rules and directives, and the Judges' Code of Conduct.

Laws of Kenya

The Laws of Kenya website, provided by the National Council for Law Reporting, makes available Kenyan statutes and subsidiary legislation arranged by subject, with a search facility. The site also has Kenyan case law, the Kenya Gazette and other material.

Kenya Law

Website of Kenya Law, provided by the National Council for Law Reporting. A free searchable database of cases is provided, going back to the 1970s; many cases are available in full, but for some only brief details are given. The Laws of Kenya are provided on the same website, together with other legal material, including the Kenya Gazette back to 2003, bills, cause lists from various courts, a treaty database, and a collection of articles and commentaries. The site also has information about the history of law reporting in Kenya.

Laws of Sierra Leone

Collection of Sierra Leonean legislation from 1925 onwards on Sierra Leone Web, a site founded in 1996 by journalist Peter C. Andersen. Includes the Constitution of Sierra Leone 1991 (and subsequent amending acts), other acts, ordinances, and some rules and regulations. Sierra Leone Web also provides books, reports and other documents from the eighteenth century onwards, as well as government information and material relating to the history and culture of Sierra Leone.

Researching Kenyan Law

Resource guide on Kenyan law written by Prof. Tom Ojienda of the University of South Africa, Leonard Obura Aloo and others.  Last updated in 2020, the guide is available on New York University's Globalex website. Background and historical information on Kenya are given along with a detailed outline of the legal system, covering the Government, the structure and jurisdiction of the courts and sources of Kenyan law.

Sierra Leone legal system and legal research

Guide to the legal system of Sierra Leone by Hanatu Kabbah, Director of the Centre for Human Rights and Development (CHRD) in Sierra Leone. Published on New York University's Globalex website and updated in 2023, it gives an overview of the legislature, executive and judiciary, along with information about the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, the High Court and the Magistrates' Courts. It covers the sources of law in Sierra Leone, including the Constitution, common law, statutory law and customary law.

Swiss legal system and research

Online guide to the Swiss legal system by lawyer Gregory M. Bovey, updated by Martin Molina and Sandro Stich. The guide is available on New York University's Globalex website. The authors cover the political system of Switzerland, dealing with the federal, cantonal and municipal levels of government and providing links to the Constitution and official websites. There is information on how laws are made, with links to federal and cantonal legislation.

Guide to the Tanzanian legal system and legal research

Online guide to the legal system of Tanzania by lawyer Bahame Tom Nyanduga, updated by Christabel Manning and Seka Kasera. Published on New York University's Globalex website, it provides an outline of the legal system, covering the Constitution, statutes, case law, international law and other sources of Tanzanian law. The government and court structures are explained and there is guidance on obtaining Tanzanian legal materials, including online resources. There are also sections on the legal profession and legal education and on the judicial system in Zanzibar

Country Policy and Information Notes

UK government web page providing information about asylum seekers' countries of origin, to be used in the asylum determination process. Reports contain information on asylum and human rights issues in the country and include chapters on the security forces, torture, the judiciary, prison conditions, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, ethnic minorities and human rights institutions. There is also background information on the country covering the economy, history, political system, Constitution and political parties.
