Constitution of Libya

Website containing an English translation of the 1969 Constitution of Libya made freely available by International Constitutional Law (ICL) at the University of Bern in Switzerland. The constitution outlines the functions and powers of the judicial, executive and legislative functions of government. It also details the individual rights and responsibilities of the citizen. There is background information on the history of the Constitution. The site also contains a copy of the Declaration on the Establishment of the Authority of the People.

Advertising Standards Authority (ASA)

Website of the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) the regulatory body set up by the advertising industry to police the rules laid down in the advertising codes. The site gives details about the work and powers of the organisation including sections focused on consumers, advertisers, schools and colleges and new media. There are online copies of the British Code of Advertising, Sales Promotion and Direct Marketing (CAP Code), the Radio Advertising Standards Code and the TV Advertising Standards Code.

Shipman Inquiry

The Shipman Inquiry was an independent public inquiry that began work in February 2001 under the chairmanship of Dame Janet Smith DBE. The Inquiry looked into the deaths of former patients of Harold Shipman and examined the systems and procedures in place. The website provides background information and documentation from the case, as well as details of the Inquiry team, ministerial statements and terms of reference. The site has transcripts of procedural meetings, witness statements, all the Inquiry reports and other documents.

The Library section of the site (available via the Corporate and Commercial, Trust and Fiduciary, and Insolvency pages) has a collection articles produced by the firm about relevant aspects of Guernsey law. The Private Client Services section provides guides to wills, probate, inheritance and guardianship in Guernsey. The Bar of Ireland

Website of the Irish Bar, the regulatory body for barristers practising in Ireland. The site has background information about the Bar, a directory of barristers and guidance on instructing counsel directly. It also covers standards, qualifications and the Irish court system. Commentary on selected pieces of legislation is available and there is a page of links to other Irish legal sites as well as a glossary and a list of Irish legal publishers. Parts of the site are restricted to members only.

Assembly of the States of Jersey

Official website of the States Assembly of Jersey in the Channel Islands.The site has background information to the history and development of government in Jersey and looks at the composition and functions of the States Assembly. There are profiles of the members and officers of the Assembly including Senators, Conn?tables and Deputies and details of procedures and standing orders are also provided. Information on the work and membership of the various committees responsible for the government of Jersey are also made available on the site.

Irish law discussion list

The Irish law discussion list is an email discussion list concerned with all areas of law relating to Ireland and Northern Ireland. The list is administered by Darius Whelan and hosted by the Faculty of Law at University College Cork on the Irish Law website. List archives go back to 1994 and can be browsed by date or searched by keyword, subject or author. There is guidance on using the list covering subscription, sending messages and technical and privacy issues. Other email lists concerned with Irish law are also mentioned on the site.

Cains is an international law firm based in the Isle of Man, specialising in banking, financial, commercial, litigation and shipping law. Its website provides information about the firm's services and profiles of staff. There is background information about the Isle of Man including sections on the government, legal system, international relations, regulation and taxation.

European Judicial Atlas in Civil Matters

The European Judicial Atlas in Civil Matters is an EU website providing information for those involved in cross-border litigation in Europe. The site includes contact details for courts in EU member states and guidance relating to the service of documents, taking of evidence and the recognition and enforcement of judgments. There is a collection of forms that can be completed online. Although the site is concerned with civil and commercial litigation, there is also a link to information about compensation for victims of crime.

Hong Kong Maritime Law Association

Website of the Hong Kong Maritime Law Association (HKMLA) an organisation that draws its membership from maritime lawyers, ship owners and others with an interest in maritime law. The site gives contact details for members of the Executive Committee and a list of corporate and individual members of the HKMLA. There are details of events and copies of the Chairman's reports provide information on the activities of the HKMLA. Full text legislation (ordinances) relating to maritime issues are available on the site.
