Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly

The Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly is composed of representatives from the parliaments of the member nations. Its website contains information on the history and work of the Parliamentary Assembly, including monitoring of elections. Press releases are available and also the text of the Parliamentary Assembly's newsletter "The Europeans" from issue 1, 1997 onwards. Information is also provided on Committee meetings with timetables and the list of adopted texts from 1996. The information is available in English or French.

International Telecommunication Union (ITU)

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is a specialized agency of the United Nations which acts to maintain and extend international cooperation in the standardization and improvement of all forms of telecommunication. Its website provides information on the history and membership of the ITU with the full-text of all its press releases from 1996 onwards. It also offers a calendar of forthcoming events, news cuttings relating to the telecommunications sector and information on world radio communication conferences.

Parliament of the Czech Republic, Chamber of Deputies

The Website of the Czech Parliament contains documents relating to its work including the establishing constitution and electoral laws, together with annual surveys of legislative activity from 1993 onwards. Additional information on the site includes a list of all current members, including their membership of political clubs and a listing of committee membership. It is also possible to access and search the catalogue of the Czech Parliamentary Library. The site is available in English and Czech.

Hieros Gamos

Hieros Gamos is a comprehensive legal site providing access to United States law and to legal and government resources in 230 countries. There are directories of law firms worldwide and to many other US based legal professionals including experts and court reporters. Resources are organised thematically including sections dealing with legal careers, students, professional organisations, legal publications and the practice of law. The Law Business Center has links to information resources covering e-commerce, business finance and starting a business.

IALS Library

The Institute of Advanced Legal Studies was founded in 1947 as part of the University of London, but with a national role. It promotes and facilitates advanced study and research in law for the benefit of persons and institutions in the UK and abroad. The Institute library has particular strengths in foreign, comparative and international law, reflected in the resources offered by the website. The site makes available the Library's online catalogue, information aimed at LLM students and a selection of legal research guides arranged by subject and jurisdiction.

Law Commission for England and Wales

Website of the Law Commission, an independent body created by the Law Commissions Act 1965 to keep the law under review and recommend reforms. Details of the laws currently being reviewed by the Commission are available, and responses are encouraged to current consultations and recent reports. Reports, consultation papers and other publications going back to 1996 are available on the site; earlier Law Commission reports are available on other sites and links to these are provided.

Japan Institute for Labour Policy and Training

The Japan Institute of Labour Policy and Training works under the supervision of the Ministry of Labour. It is engaged in the comprehensive research and study of labour problems.The Institute collects and classifies information and data both domestically and internationally. Another important role of the Japan Institute of Labour is to inform labour, management and the general public in order to deepen understanding and knowledge of labour problems.

Organization of American States

The Organization for American States (OAS) is a regional forum for dialogue and cooperation on political, economic and social issues in the Americas. In addition to general information on its membership and programmes, the website contains the full-text of a number of OAS documents including its charter, annual report, conventions, treaties, all resolutions from the General Assembly and Permanent Council from 1994 onwards, and press releases from 1995 onwards. Also included are the transcripts of key speeches made by the Secretary General and the Assistant Secretary General since 1995.

Bills before Parliament

Detailed information about public bills currently before the UK Parliament, on the Parliament website. Bills are presented in full, together with information about their progress through the legislative procedure in both Houses. This includes details of amendments, explanatory notes, debates, proceedings and transcripts of evidence and other related documents.

European Environmental Law Network

The European Environmental Law Network's website contains dossiers of articles and papers on air quality, European climate policy and the Francovich case, together with EU environmental case law, EU treaties and secondary legislation and other EU documentation. There is a National Pages section covering forty different countries (EU member states, candidate countries and other states such as Russia and Israel). For each country there are links to a wide variety of environmental law sites, including sources of legislation, case law and commentary.
