Southern African Institute for Policy and Research

The Southern African Institute for Policy and Research (SAIPAR) is an independent, educational research centre focusing on good governance and development issues in Zambia and Southern Africa. SAIPAR’s legal research projects include the Zambia Legal Information Institute (ZamLII) and the Judgment Commentary Unit which provides commentaries on selected judgments from courts in the Southern African region.

WorldCat

WorldCat is an online library catalogue covering the print and electronic collections of about 10,000 libraries, including national, academic, special and public libraries. Although it has contributing libraries from all over the world, the majority are based in the US or Europe. WorldCat has basic and advanced search facilities and it covers book, serials and other material on all subjects. Search results can be sorted and filtered, and WorldCat will tell you if a particular item is held in a nearby library.

LegalTechList

A database giving details of nearly 2,000 selected legal technology companies from around the world. It can be searched, or browsed by the following categories: fields of analytics, compliance, document automation, legal education, legal research, the marketplace, online dispute resolution, practice management and e-discovery; each record is tagged with more specific terms. LegalTechList is provided by CodeX, the Stanford Center for Legal Informatics, at Stanford University in the United States.

The Indigo Book

The Indigo Book is an open-access legal citation manual that uses the same citation system as the well-known Bluebook. It is an open access resource, provided by a team of students from New York University led by Professor Christopher Jon Sprigman; it was last updated in 2016. 

Legal Frameworks for Nuclear Activities

This part of the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) site provides information on the legal frameworks for nuclear activities in OECD and NEA member and partner countries. Country profiles cover a range of topics including the regulatory regime, regulatory authorities and advisory bodies. There is information on nuclear installations, radioactive waste management, radioactive substances and equipment, non-proliferation and transport. Links are given to primary legislation and to other NEA publications. The NEA is part of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

International Atomic Energy Agency: Treaties

This part of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) website provides access to treaties the IAEA is involved with. These include international agreements negotiated and concluded by IAEA Member States, agreements to which the IAEA is a party (acting as an international organisation) and IAEA-related treaties which are relevant to the Agency’s work. Subjects covered include nuclear safety, nuclear security, nuclear non-proliferation and civil liability for nuclear damage. Treaties are given in full text in a range of languages in PDF.

Handbook on Nuclear Law

Ebook published by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in 2003 and made freely available on the IAEA website. The handbook provides guidance for governments on enhancing nuclear energy laws and regulations. There are sections on radiation protection, nuclear and radiation safety, nuclear liability, non-proliferation and physical protection. The book is presented  in PDF. The IAEA is an international organisation within the UN System.

International Arbitration Between Foreign Investors and Host States (Investor-State Arbitration)

Brief guide to international arbitrations between foreign investors and host states compiled by Hernando Otero who is an international investment, arbitration and mediation attorney. The guide was updated in 2022 on the Globalex website, hosted by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law.

ICSID Databases

This part of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) website provides access to a range of databases maintained by the ICSID. There is a database of member states which gives details of signatories to the ICSID Convention, a searchable database of cases administered by ICSID and a directory of arbitrators and conciliators appointed to the ICSID Panels. There is a database listing bilateral investment treaties searchable by signatory states, treaty and year of signature. The treaty text isn’t given.
