Care Inspectorate Wales

Care Inspectorate Wales is the independent regulator of social care and childcare in Wales. Work involves registering and inspecting care services, responding to concerns raised about social care and ensuring services meet legislative and regulatory requirements. Inspection, annual and local authority reports are available on the site. Links are given to relevant legislation, regulations and guidance. There is also a searchable care services directory and a register of service providers.

General Teaching Council for Wales

The General Teaching Council for Wales (GTCW) is an independent, self-regulating body for the teaching profession in Wales. It regulates admission to the profession, acts as an advocate for the teaching profession and maintains a register of qualified teachers. Users can find out more about the Council, information on professional standards and professional development and information on the qualification / registration process. The site also contains news items, links to ongoing consultations and external websites. The GTCW website can be viewed in English and Welsh.

E-MINE Electronic Mine Information Network

The Treaties and Law section of the E-MINE website gives access to treaties and other legal materials relating to the use of landmines. The E-MINE site is provided by the United Nations Mine Action Service. As well as giving full text copies of individual instruments focusing on landmines like the Convention on Cluster Munitions, the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Treaty ("Ottawa Convention") and the 1980 Convention on Conventional Weapons the page provides access to collections of treaties covering international human rights law, refugee law and the Geneva Conventions.

Rules of warfare, arms control

The Rules of warfare, arms control page forms part of the Multilaterals Project at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. The project provides the text of international treaties and conventions covering various subjects. This section has the Hague Conventions, the Geneva Conventions and other texts dealing with the laws of war.

UNICEF

The website of UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund) contains information about the organisation and its activities and about the United Nations in general. Focus areas include child survival and development, education, HIV/aids and children, child protection and child health including immunisation. Information can be viewed by country including details of projects and appeals, statistics and news from the region. Publications on the site include annual reports, The State of the World’s Children (published annually) and the full-text of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Childwatch International Research Network

Childwatch International Research Network is a global network of organisations doing interdisciplinary research in the area of children’s rights. The Childwatch Secretariat is based at the University of Oslo in Norway. The website carries details of Childwatch’s projects and research work. Topics covered include child labour, children and children’s rights and child poverty. A selection of reports can be downloaded from the site.

International Law Library

This WorldLII library brings together 76 searchable databases concerning international law. The databases include the International Courts and Tribunals Collection which has, among others, decisions of the International Criminal Court, the Special Court for Sierra Leone, Caribbean Court of Justice and the Timor Leste Special Panel for Serious Crimes. The Treaties & International Agreements Collection has 7 treaties databases from international organisations the League of Nations and the United Nations.
