GOV.UK: Publications

Database of UK official publications provided on the government website, GOV.UK. Includes research papers, statistics, consultation documents, act papers (documents laid before Parliament under the authority of acts of Parliament), administrative decisions (e.g. Intellectual Property Office decisions), policy papers, official guidance, impact assessments, Freedom of Information releases, some treaties and various other government publications. Some types of publication are only available from around 2010 onwards, but some are available as far back as the 1980s - and earlier.

Parliamentary Research Publications

This page, on the UK Parliament website, provides free access to publications produced by the House of Commons and House of Lords libraries. There are Research Briefings providing detailed introductions to a range of topics available back to 1996. There are also Business Briefings providing impartial summaries and analyses of events and situations relevant to current parliamentary interest.

Eastern Caribbean Securities Regulatory Commission

The Eastern Caribbean Securities Regulatory Commission (ECSRC) is the regulatory body for the Eastern Caribbean Securities Market. It regulates securities dealing in Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, and St Vincent and The Grenadines. The ECSRC website provides the organisation’s laws and regulations, including the Eastern Caribbean Securities Act 2001.

Bahamas Laws Online

Online editions of statutes and subsidiary legislation of the Bahamas, on the Bahamas Government website. Laws are available as amended to 31 December 2021, together with the original text of legislation enacted after that date. There is a basic search facility and tables and indexes are also provided. A disclaimer states that the legislative texts are for information only.

5RB

5RB is a set of barristers specialising in media and entertainment law; areas covered include defamation, privacy, breach of confidence, intellectual property, sport, publishing and harassment. The 5RB website provides a collection of case reports, with commentary, which may be searched by key word or browsed by year, party name or topic. It also includes a collection of articles by barristers from 5RB.

European Human Rights System

Guide to researching the Council of Europe (CoE) and its regulation of human rights, by James Hart, Associate Senior Reference Librarian in the University of Cincinnati Law Library. The article was published in 2011 (and updated in 2023) on New York University's Globalex website. The guide covers the background, history and structure of the CoE and the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. It explains the roles and functions of the European Commission of Human Rights and the European Court of Human Rights.

Introduction to the Law of the Southern African Development Community

Online guide to the law of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) written by Dunia P. Zongwe who is a former graduate fellow of the Institute for African Development at Cornell University. The guide was published in 2011 (and updated in 2023) on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law. The author gives background and historical information to SADC which is a regional economic community composed of 15 countries in Southern Africa.

GOV.UK

GOV.UK is the official UK government website, replacing the Directgov and Business Link sites. Individual government departments' websites have all been (or will be) merged into GOV.UK. The site provides policy information and other departmental materials. There is an extensive Publications database, containing consultation documents, treaties, official guidance, annual reports, statistics and more. The site also includes information and online services for individuals and businesses, on a wide range of topics.
