Sexual and Gender Based Violence Database Project

The Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) Database provides free access to legal materials dealing with SGBV in 14 African countries. It is a project of the Institute for Human Rights and Development in Africa (IHRDA) and an extension of the African Human Rights Case Law Analyzer. The laws and cases can be searched by keyword, browsed by country and viewed in full text. The site can be viewed in English, French and Arabic.

Treaties – UK Parliament

List of treaties laid before the UK Parliament under the Constitutional Reform and Governance Act 2010, showing their progress through the procedure. The list covers treaties laid from June 2017 onwards. It is searchable by title or command number and can be filtered by criteria such as government department, house of Parliament, and whether there was a motion or recommendation not to ratify. There are links to the text of each treaty, its explanatory memorandum, the Votes and Proceedings of the House of Commons, and select committee reports.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Croatia: bilateral relations

This section of the Croatian foreign ministry’s website provides a list of the dates that Croatia established diplomatic relations with each foreign state and the dates of diplomatic recognition, together with details of Croatia’s bilateral treaties. The treaty information includes titles, dates of conclusion and entry into force, Official Gazette references and other details, but the text of the instruments is not available. For Bosnia Herzegovina, Italy, Hungary and Slovenia, some multilateral treaties are covered as well as bilaterals.

Selected consolidated laws

A collection of selected laws and treaties in English translation, on the government website of the principality of Lichtenstein. Includes the Constitution, the Judicial Appointment Act and two treaties. The documents are in PDF format, in English and German. Switching to the German-language version of the website redirects you to the homepage.

Southeast Asian region countries law

This research guide to the legal systems of the southeast Asian region, consisting of Japan, Korea and the 10 countries that comprise ASEAN, is compiled by the University of Melbourne. For each jurisdiction there are annotated links to sources of legislation, case law, books and journals, and for many jurisdictions there are also links to treaties and the constitution. As this guide is aimed at law students, it also includes a page on citing and referencing resources.

Irish Treaty Series

This treaty database, maintained by the Department of Foreign Affairs in Ireland, contains entries for all instruments published in the Irish Treaty Series since 1930. Records are typically composed of the ITS number, the title of the agreement, the parties, whether it was bilateral or multilateral, the date signed and the date in force. Full-text PDFs are available for all the treaties since 1998, however only a limited number of treaties prior to this include the full text.

Official gazettes and civil society documentation

Collection of endangered government publications from ten African countries and Gulf states, digitised by the US-based Center for Research Libraries (CRL). Includes official gazettes – which typically publish legislation, government notices, et cetera - from Algeria, Congo Brazzaville, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, Somalia and Zimbabwe. Most, but not all, of the digitised content is from the 1950s to the 1990s. The CRL website is in English and the gazettes are in the language of the country of publication.

ASEAN Judiciaries Portal

Launched in 2018, the ASEAN Judiciaries Portal (AJP), produced by the Council of ASEAN Chief Justices (CACJ), provides information about the judiciaries and legal environments of the ASEAN member states. On the main site there are pages dedicated to the CACJ activities and training courses offered, as well as a case repository. The portal also includes sections specific to the various member states, including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Database-CIL

Aimed at researchers and policy makers, this database is a free public resource continually being updated by the Centre for International Law at the National University of Singapore. The database comprises over 900 ASEAN documents (treaties and soft law documents) and 300 other international law documents, with details of Southeast Asian implementation of key instruments. It can be searched by title, date, key word and treaty status. Each database entry provides documents in both pdf and word formats, as well as an external link, and recommended related instruments.

Australian legislation

This guide to Australian legislation is compiled by the University of Melbourne and made freely available on its website. Content includes pages on the different types of legislation, how to locate them, and advice on legislative research. Pages dedicated to the specific Australian states can be found under the finding legislation tab. These pages will usually consist of annotated links to the authoritative website, and then other sites providing legislation in that area. As this guide is aimed at law students, it also includes a page on citing and referencing resources.
