Asian Americans Advancing Justice

Website of Asian Americans Advancing Justice a non-profit organisation whose stated aim is to "advance the human and civil rights of Asian Americans through advocacy, public policy, public education, and litigation". The site gives details of projects they are concerned with including affirmative action, anti-Asian violence, immigration, voting rights and welfare reform. Resources on hate crime include FAQs, a checklist for victims and related web links. Profiles are given of the Board of Directors and the National Advisory Council.

Minority Rights Information System

Website of the Minority Rights Information System (MIRIS), hosted by the European Academy of Bolzano (EURAC), a research institute established in Italy in 1992. The database provides information on the implementation of minority rights in the member states of the Council of Europe and includes national legislation and case-law, international treaties and agreements of the UN, Council of Europe and the OSCE, case studies and specific documents on minority groups. Texts are made available in English and the official language of the state concerned.

Tribal Court Clearinghouse

Website of the Tribal Court Clearinghouse which is produced by the Tribal Law Policy Institute and acts as a resource for "American Indian and Alaska Native Nations, American Indian and Alaska Native people, tribal justice systems, victims services providers, tribal service providers, and others involved in the improvement of justice in Indian country." The site contains links to articles, Tribal Court decisions, Supreme Court Indian Decisions, relevant Federal laws and agencies and pending Federal legislation.

U.S. Department of Justice : Office of Tribal Justice

Official website of the Office of Tribal Justice which was "established to provide a single point of contact within the Justice Department for meeting the broad and complex federal responsibilities owed to Indian tribes." Background information on the role and functions of the OTJ along with a selection of statements from the the Attorney General and the White House on American Indian issues and press releases relating to tribal matters.

Indigenous Law Bulletin

Website of the Indigenous Law Bulletin (ILB) a refereed journal which appears eight times a year and is published by the Indigenous Law Centre at the University of New South Wales in Australia. The journal which started in 1981 provides "up-to-date information, discussion and analysis of issues that relate to Indigenous peoples and the law." Subjects covered by the journal include human rights, intellectual property, sovereignty, native title, land rights and discrimination.

Native Title Research Unit

The Native Title Research Unit (NTRU) forms part of the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies in Canberra, Australia. The Unit provides a research service for people researching native title (the land rights of indigenous peoples) and an annotated list of native title legal research resources including reports, articles, judgements, bibliographies, courts and other organisations. Details are given of NTRU research projects, conferences, workshops and seminars.

Society of Asian Lawyers

Website of the Society of Asian Lawyers (SAL), a London based organisation which draws its membership from solicitors, barristers, legal executives, trainees and students. The site provides SAL's newsletter, details of events and information about mentoring scheme. There is also a news section and a page of links.

Indigenous Bar Association

Website of the Indigenous Bar Association (IBA), an organisation based in Ontario, Canada which represents aboriginal lawyers and provides a forum for discussing developments in indigenous law. Membership is drawn from judges, academics, consultants and students. The website includes organisational information and details of the objectives and by-laws of the IBA. It also makes available the IBA's newsletters and conference reports, together with information about the National Secretariat Against Hate and Racism in Canada.

Research guide on indigenous peoples international law

Online guide to researching indigenous international law written by Christopher C. Dykes who is reference/research librarian at the University of Houston Law Center's O'Quinn Law Library. The guide was published in August 2009 (and updated in July 2024) on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law. The guide provides an introduction to the topic including a definition of the term "indigenous peoples", a list of indigenous groups and other key terms.

Indigenous and Tribal Peoples

This section of the International Labour Organization (ILO) website deals with the employment rights of indigenous and tribal peoples. There is background information on the ILOãs work with indigenous and tribal peoples and details of ILO projects designed to provide support and assistance to these people and to governments. Full text copies of international legal instruments promoting the rights of indigenous and tribal peoples are provided on the site along with their ratifications and an account of the effects these conventions have had.
