Bodleian Law Library research guides

Collection of legal research guides compiled by staff at the Bodleian Law Library. There are guides covering about twenty-five different regions or jurisdictions, from Africa south of the Sahara to the United States. About thirty-five subject guides are also provided, covering a diverse range of topics, including ancient law, tax law, international law, jurisprudence and the law of obligations. There is also guidance on finding particular types of legal materials, such as treaties, legislation and official publications. 

Law, Environment and Development Journal

The Law, Environment and Development Journal (LEAD) is an open access peer-reviewed online journal  run by the School of Law of the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) at the University of London and the International Environmental Law Research Centre (IELRC), an independent Swiss organisation. LEAD is aimed at academics, practitioners, students and policy-makers and is focused on environmental law in developing countries. The entire series is open access.

Blawgsearch

Law blog (or 'blawg') finder, provided by Justia Legal Resources. The site indexes US blogs primarily, but there is some coverage of other jurisdictions. The home page lists the most popular blogs and most recent posts. Users may browse by area of law, US state or country and there is also a search facility. A resources page includes information about blogging software and hosting. 

Country Policy and Information Notes

UK government web page providing information about asylum seekers' countries of origin, to be used in the asylum determination process. Reports contain information on asylum and human rights issues in the country and include chapters on the security forces, torture, the judiciary, prison conditions, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, ethnic minorities and human rights institutions. There is also background information on the country covering the economy, history, political system, Constitution and political parties.

International Legal Scholarship Library

This WorldLII project aims to make searchable from one location all academic law journals available on WorldLII (World Legal Information Institute) and other legal information institute websites. Journals are available in full text and include sub-collections focused on human rights and indigenous law. WorldLII is a legal information portal developed by the Australasian Legal Information Institute (AustLII) and a number of partner institutions (BAILII, AustLII, HKLII, CanLII, NZLII).

Global Legal Monitor

Online publication by the Law Library of Congress in the US, providing information on legal developments from around the world. Content can be filtered by jurisdiction and year and there is a search facility. Sources include press reports and official publications.

Internet Watch Foundation

Website of the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), a UK organisation that combats online child abuse. The site has an online facility for the public to report illegal internet content. It also provides information about IWF resources and tools - including an image hashtag list, keywords list and intelligent web crawler - and gives details of the foundation's policy work in the UK, EU and around the world. Part of the site is accessible to members only.
