Common portal of national case law

Portal to the case law databases of the national supreme courts of the European Union, provided by the Network of the Presidents of the Supreme Judicial Courts of the European Union. The various public databases can be searched simultaneously in any of the EU languages. Additional features, including translation of judgments into other languages, are available to members of the Network.

Public procurement

This European Commission site provides a substantial amount of information about EU public procurement rules and policy. Legislation, guidelines, reports and explanatory notes are available, plus details of consultations and general information about remedies, public private partnerships, electronic public procurement and defence procurement. International aspects of public procurement are covered and there is news of the Commission's activities to counter infringements of the rules. The site is in English and can be translated into other EU languages automatically. 

International agreements

Collection of international agreements entered into by the EU. Part of the EUR-Lex database. it comprises bilateral and multilateral treaty texts, with information about their validity and dates of effect, and links to related documents. It can be browsed by policy area - under 'Directory of international agreements' - or searched. The collection does not include the founding treaties, nor other fundamental treaties: these are found in the separate 'Treaties' collection on EUR-Lex. EUR-Lex is available in all the official languages of the EU.

Transatlantic turbulence: the European Union and United States debate over passenger data

Guide to the legal issues surrounding passenger data by Irfan Tukdi, updated by Sabrina Sondhi, Director of the H. Laddie Montague, Jr. Law Library at Penn State Dickinson Law. Published on New York University's Globalex website, it gives background information to the US anti-terrorism legislation passed following the 9/11 terror attacks, including the Patriot Act, the Air Transportation Safety and System Stabilization Act (ATSSSA) and the Aviation and Transportation Security Act (ATSA).

European Legal Studies Institute

The European Legal Studies Institute (ELSI) is a research department of the Faculty of Law at the University of Osnabrück in Germany. It focuses on comparative law and the harmonisation of law within the European Union. The website provides details of research projects and staff of the institute. Publications are available, including the Institute's Research Paper Series. The site can be viewed in English or German.

Commission on European Family Law

The Commission on European Family Law (CEFL) is based at the Molengraaff Institute for Private Law, University of Utrecht. It is made up of European experts in family and comparative law. The aim of CEFL is to further the harmonisation of family law in Europe through the creation of a set of Principles of European Family Law. The site provides organisational and contact information for the Commission, details of conferences and events and links to selected European legislation on family law.

Global Warming: a comparative guide to the EU and the US and their approaches to the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Kyoto Protocol

Guide by Deborah Paulus-Jagric, Reference Librarian for Educational Services at New York University Law School Library, updated by Heidi Frostestad Kuehl, Law Library Director and Associate Professor of Law at Northern Illinois University College of Law. Published on New York University's Globalex website and updated periodically, the guide gives background and historical information on the Convention and Protocol, with references and links to printed and online material.

Judge David Edward Oral History Project

This online oral history project, by Professor Don Smith of the Sturm College of Law, Denver University, looks at the career of Judge David Edward, a member of the Court of Justice of the European Communities from 1992 to 2004. The project website includes video interviews about his life and work, published papers, pictures and personal memories. There is background information about the project, together with biographical details and speeches. Interview transcripts can be downloaded and articles and papers written by David Edward are available from 1979 onwards.
