BrexitLawNI

BrexitLawNI is a collaborative research project between the law schools of Queen’s University Belfast and Ulster University and the Committee on the Administration of Justice, a human rights organisation based in Belfast. The project is looking at the legal and constitutional elements of Brexit as they relate to Northern Ireland and background information is given for the key themes. These include the peace process, relations between the North and South of Ireland, border controls and free movement and equality and human rights issues.

Law and Religion Scholars Network

Website of the Law and Religion Scholars Network (LARSN) an initiative of the Centre for Law and Religion at Cardiff University designed to bring together academics who are interested in all areas of law and religion. The website provides free access to a Case Database which includes judgements relating to law and religion delivered by UK courts, the European Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights. Judgements are provided from 2000 onwards with a selection of important earlier cases included. There is also a page of links to related websites.

Project for Interdisciplinary Law and Religion Studies

Website of the Project for Interdisciplinary Law and Religion Studies (PILARS) an initiative of the Open University Law School. The project provides comment and analysis on recent law and religion judgements along with a list of related judgements covering a range of jurisdictions. PILARS also offers guidance on how to write a case comment, a bibliography of law and religion texts and a list of related websites.

Innocence Project London

Web page of the Innocence Project London (IPL) which is based in the School of Law at the University of Greenwich. The project was established in 2010 and conducts investigations into alleged wrongful convictions of individuals. The work is carried out by law students under the guidance of academic and practicing lawyers. IPL is the only UK based innocence project to belong to the US based Innocence Network.

Costs Lawyer Standards Board

The Costs Lawyer Standards Board (CLSB) has been an approved regulator under the Legal Services Act 2007 since 31 October 2011. The website contains a register of costs lawyers authorised and regulated by the CLSB. It also makes available the Costs Lawyer Handbook, comprising of the Code of Conduct, Practising Rules, Disciplinary Rules and Procedures, CPD Rules, Training Rules and other regulatory information and guidance for costs lawyers. The website includes copies of the annual accounts of the CLSB, their business plan and board minutes.

CILEx Regulation

CILEx Regulation is the independent regulator of chartered legal executives, other members of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) and non-members who have practice rights in the legal sector. The website has separate sections giving information for consumers and lawyers. It also contains information on practice rights. The website makes available the CILEx Code of Conduct and CILEx Regulation codes. In addition, there is a directory of disciplinary records containing details of all disciplinary decisions made against CILEx (or previous ILEx) members.

Centre for Crime and Justice Studies

Website of independent educational charity Crime and Justice Studies which is concerned with advancing public understanding of crime, criminal justice and social harm. There is information on the various projects run by the Centre along with news, comment and details of events. The Centre publishes the British Journal of Criminology and Criminal Justice Matters the organisation’s newsletter. Both publications can be viewed on the site. There are also regular briefings covering topics such as criminal record checks, rough sleeping and undercover policing.

Public Defender Service

The Public Defender Service (PDS) is a department of the Legal Aid Agency providing a range of criminal defence services including advice and representation at the police station or magistrates court through to advocacy in the higher courts. The PDS was established in 2001 as the first salaried criminal defence service in England and Wales and provides legal aided defence representation in all types of criminal cases.

Daniel Geey

Website of Daniel Geey who is a partner at sports and media law firm Sheridans. His blog focuses on the law relating to football providing occasional posts covering topics such as the effect of Brexit on football, players’ deals with big brands, football image rights and player transfer agreements.

The Federal Trust for Education and Research

Website of the Federal Trust, a research charity “studying the interactions between regional, national, European and global levels of government”. Articles and pamphlets are made freely available on the site. These cover devolution in the UK, the UK constitution and the effects of Brexit on the European Court of Justice and international trade. There are also details of events held by the Federal Trust.
