Scottish Land Court

The Scottish Land Court is based in Edinburgh and deals with farming and agricultural tenancy disputes. The site provides historical information about the court and links to legislation establishing the court's jurisdiction. There is information on making an application to the court and the appropriate forms are available to download. Details of hearings, court fees and rules and practice notices are also given.

Land Claims Court of South Africa Decisions

A SAFLII database containing selected full-text decisions of the Land Claims Court of South Africa. Decisions are available from 1996 onwards and can be browsed alphabetically or by date. The Southern African Legal Information Institute (SAFLII) is a collaborative project of the Wits Law School in South Africa and the Australasian Legal Information Institute (AustLII) providing free South African legal information. The decisions are also available on the Land Claims Court of South Africa website.

Valuation Tribunal Service

Website of the Valuation Tribunal Service (VTS). There are 56 Valuation Tribunals in England and 4 in Wales whose role is to hear appeals relating to Non-Domestic Rates and Council Tax. The website includes full text decisions and appeals listed for hearing back to October 1999. Decisions can be searched by appeal number, postcode or using a free text search option. Guidance documents give advice on making an appeal along with a selection of FAQs. Newsletters focusing on changes in the valuation law are aimed at staff within the tribunal service and can be viewed on the site.

Upper Tribunal (Lands Chamber)

The Tribunal's jurisdiction includes rating appeals, land compensation, taxation appeals concerning land and blight notice references. The website has information about the Tribunal, including a link to a database of decisions and a list of appeals from the Lands Chamber to the Court of Appeal. An online guide explains the role of the Tribunal along with a copy of the Lands Tribunal Rules 1996 and the Practice Directions. Statutory forms are presented in PDF format.

New South Wales Land and Environment Court

The New South Wales Land and Environment Court (LEC) is a specialist court dealing with environmental, development, building and planning disputes. There is information about the court including a list of judges and commissioners and a selection of information sheets which can be downloaded in Word or HTML. The site includes information about the LEC's jurisdiction and provides links to full-text laws that grant the Court jurisdiction.

Common Core of Private European Law

The Common Core of Private European Law is a project based at the University of Trento in Italy, involving academics from Europe and the United States. The aim of the project is to analyse the private law of EU member states in order to establish the common elements. The site explains the background and methodology of the project and includes copies of the survey questionnaires used in its work. Relevant books by members of the project are listed.

French Property Law

The French Property Law website is produced by the French law department at Russell-Cooke a law firm with offices in London. The site is made freely available in English and provides a guide to buying French property covering contracts, mortgages, searches and fees. There is a selection of FAQs covering inheritance and representation along with related news stories. A collection of in-house articles is made available in full-text in PDF format dealing with other aspects of purchasing property in France. The site also has a page of Web links.

Govan Law Centre

Website of the Govan Law Centre (GLC) which provides free and low cost legal services for disadvantaged people in Scotland. The site has information about the GLC and its work (including a copy of their annual report) along with contact details for other law centres in Scotland. There is a selection of guides to common legal problems including consumer law, bankruptcy, debt, housing law and neighbour nuisance and a range of money advice resources covering mortgage repossession, benefits and small claims.

Landlord Law

Website of Landlord Law, a subscription website produced by Tessa Shepperson, a solicitor based in Norwich specialising in residential landlord and tenant work. The site has sections for landlords and tenants, together with information about tenancy agreements, rent arrears and eviction. There are also links to housing cases and legislation. Free content includes feature articles on specific aspects of landlord and tenant law, a questions and answers page, news stories and book reviews and Law Commission documents focusing on housing law reform.

Property Law

The Property Law website is maintained by Gary Webber a barrister specialising in property law. The site is aimed at lawyers, surveyors and others looking for property law information. There are articles and links to articles on other websites dealing with subjects such as business leases, adverse possession, mortgages, conveyancing and possession claims. There is a directory of annotated links to other property law websites, details of property law courses, conferences and books and contact information for mediators who can act in property disputes.
