The Case for Leasehold Reform (Enfranchisement) (1953)

Digitised version of a pamphlet published by the London Leaseholders Association in 1953. The pamphlet, provided online by the LSE Library (British Library of Political and Economic Science), addresses issues relating to the rights of tenants to purchase the freehold of a property. A review is made of the contemporary law and suggestions made for reform to increase the rights of tenants; a draft law is included. The original pamphlet is held by the LSE Library.

Registers of Scotland

Website of the Registers of Scotland the Government Agency responsible for compiling and maintaining registers relating to property and other legal documents in Scotland. The registers are the Land Register of Scotland, the Register of Sasines, the Chancery and Judicial Registers and the Register of Community Interests in Land. The site describes the Registers, their history and how to search them. There is property and house price information and a full text copy of the Registration of Title Practice Book which contains a copy of the Land Registration Act.

HM Land Registry

The Land Registry is a non-ministerial department of the UK Government. Its main purpose is to register title to land in England and Wales and to record dealings once the land is registered. The website provides a searchable register of title deeds, downloadable data, a collection of land registration practice guides, reports, forms, house price data and other information.

Agricultural Land Tribunals

Website of the Agricultural Land Tribunals (ALT) which is hosted by Defra. There are seven ALTs in England and one in Wales who are responsible for settling disputes and other issues between agricultural tenants and landlords arising from tenancy agreements held under the Agricultural Holdings Act 1986. They are also concerned with drainage disputes between neighbours under Sections 28 and/or 30 of the Land Drainage Act 1991. A full-text copy of this act can be viewed on the site.

Adjudicator to HM Land Registry

Website of the Adjudicator to HM Land Registry who is an independent judge dealing with Land Registry disputes. The office was created under the Land Registration Act 2002. The site provides information aimed at people preparing a case including a guide containing FAQs and a glossary of terms. Forms can also be downloaded from the site. Decisions of the Adjudicator are published in full on the site.

Native Lands Trust Board

Official website of the Native Lands Trust Board (NLTB) of Fiji, the body with responsibility for administering native land for the benefit of the indigenous landowner in Fiji. The site has information on the history and background of the NLTB, its corporate objectives and the type of leases currently administered. There is also information on the ownership structure of land in Fiji and a selection of commentary articles.

The site includes details of services the firm offers and freely available information on French tax, property and pensions. Content is provided in the form of articles and case studies with topics covered including the main French taxes, tax planning and and tax-free or tax efficient investments. There is advice on French property and conveyancing, French probate, health care and social security.

Land and Property Services

Website of the Land and Property Services (formerly Land Registers of Northern Ireland) a government agency whose purpose is to "record accurate details of legal interest in land in Northern Ireland". The service is made up of three registries- the Statutory Charges Registry, the Land Registry and the Registry of Deeds. The site explains the land registration systems in Northern Ireland and how to carry out searches. There is a glossary of terms and a selection of FAQs.

Planning Inspectorate

The Planning Inspectorate is the government agency dealing with planning and enforcement appeals. The Inspectorate's work also involves holding inquiries into local development plans and dealing with listed building consent appeals. The site provides information on the types of appeal that can be made and a selection of forms can be downloaded from the site in either PDF or Word format. Planning Inspectorate publications are made freely available on the site and include information on rights of way, environmental appeals, codes of conduct and planning policy guidance.
