Open Democracy Advice Centre

Website of the Open Democracy Advice Centre (ODAC) a joint initiative between the Institute for Democracy in South Africa (IDASA), the Black Sash Trust and the University of Cape Town Law Department. ODAC's aim is to promote freedom of information and government accountability, support whistleblowers and provide training and advice on the Protected Disclosures Act and the Promotion of Access to Information Act. The website provides full-text copies of the acts (in HTML) along with the regulations, forms and user guides.

Human Rights Lawyers Association

The Human Rights Lawyers Association (HRLA) is a professional organisation launched in 2003 to provide a forum for lawyers, academics and students interested in human rights law. Activities of the HRLA include publishing papers and articles, organising seminars and workshops and providing consultancy and advice. The website sets out the aims of the HRLA, events and membership details. The site also provides access to conference papers and a page of annotated web links to related sites.

Campaign Against Sanctions on Iraq

Cambridge Solidarity with Iraq (formerly called CASI) was formed in 1997 by a group of Cambridge students in the UK, concerned about the effects of the UN trade sanctions against Iraq. It was wound up in 2003, but the site is still available as an archive. There are also some interesting links to further information for those wanting to learn more about Iraq, its economy and trade sanctions.

Religlaw

The Religlaw website is maintained by the Brigham Young University International Center for Law and Religion Studies in Utah. There are links to religion and law news stories, guides to religious freedom and frameworks for law and religion in different jurisdictions.

European Social Charter

Council of Europe website providing information for the public about the European Social Charter. The site includes recent news, presentations on the charter, information on the European Committee of Social Rights and a survey country by country. The site is fully searchable and available in English and French, with some sections in other languages.

AAAS Center for Scientific Responsibility and Justice (SRJ)

The AAAS Center for Scientific Responsibility and Justice (SRJ) at the American Association for the Advancement of Science focuses on collaboration between scientists and the judiciary to promote understanding and application of scientific principles in the legal system. Its website provides briefings and guidance for judges and details of current and past projects. There is also information about SRJ seminars and the National Conference of Lawyers and Scientists.

Equal Opportunity Commission of South Australia

Official website of the Equal Opportunity Commission of South Australia. The site provides guidance and case studies to equal opportunity and human rights laws in Australia and South Australia. There are sections aimed at individuals, employers and schools with background information on discrimination including full text laws for Australia and South Australia.The section for employers includes guidance and checklists to the responsibilities of businesses and service providers for managing equal opportunities and dealing with complaints.
