AICHR - ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights

Website of AICHR, the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights, a body set up in 2009 whose aim is to promote cooperation between ASEAN member states on human rights. It describes the history and purpose of the organisation, and includes news relating to recent AICHR meetings, current areas of focus and other events. The site provides access to documents such as its five-year work plans, annual reports and activity reports amongst others, which can be downloaded in Word or PDF format. 

Sharīʿah Law in South East Asian (ASEAN) Region: Intellectual Property Innovation and Development, Perspectives and Implication for Business and Trade

Article giving overview of Shariah law as practiced and observed in the South East Asian (ASEAN) region written by Jeong Chun Phuoc who holds a Ph.D. in Law from the University of Malaya and Wei Yan Ting who is director and partner at Guangxi Justlaw Legal Firm. The article was published in 2024 on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School at the NYU, School of Law.

Southeast Asian region countries law

This research guide to the legal systems of the southeast Asian region, consisting of Japan, Korea and the 10 countries that comprise ASEAN, is compiled by the University of Melbourne. For each jurisdiction there are annotated links to sources of legislation, case law, books and journals, and for many jurisdictions there are also links to treaties and the constitution. As this guide is aimed at law students, it also includes a page on citing and referencing resources.

ASEAN Judiciaries Portal

Launched in 2018, the ASEAN Judiciaries Portal (AJP), produced by the Council of ASEAN Chief Justices (CACJ), provides information about the judiciaries and legal environments of the ASEAN member states. On the main site there are pages dedicated to the CACJ activities and training courses offered, as well as a case repository. The portal also includes sections specific to the various member states, including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Asian and Pacific Law Guide

A legal research guide for Asia and the Pacific region, created by the library at the University of Sydney. Includes regional legal information as well as covering twenty-five individual jurisdictions. For each jurisdiction, there are annotated links to sources of legislation and cases, information about the legal system, information relating to international law (such as participation in treaties), and links to research guides.

ASEAN Legal Instruments

This page of the ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) website provides information on the various legal instruments concluded among and between ASEAN Member States. The legal instruments are presented in a table and arranged according to ASEAN’s 3 community pillars: ASEAN Political Security Committee; ASEAN Economic Community and the ASEAN Socio Cultural Committee. There is information on each agreement including signatories, status and links to the full text.

Juricaf: la jurisprudence francophone des cours suprêmes

Collection of judgments from the highest French-speaking national and regional courts, provided free of charge by AHJUCAF, the Association of Francophone Supreme Courts (L'association des cours judiciaires suprêmes francophones), in partnership with the Université Paris I. As well as individual African, European, South-East Asian and American jurisdictions, Juricaf covers the courts of international organisations such as the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEDAC) and the Council of Europe.

SOAS Library

Website of the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) Library at the University of London, providing information about collections, services and facilities. Has a link to the Library Catalogue; a list of databases; details of e-books and e-journals; and the SOAS Archive Catalogue. There is a Subject Guide for the law collection, which includes a page of information by country or region covering Africa, China, Europe, International Law, Japan and Korea, the Middle East and Central Asia, South Asia, South-East Asia and the UK.

LAWASIA

Website of LAWASIA, a professional association drawing its membership from "representatives of bar councils, law associations, individual lawyers, law firms and corporations" in the Asia Pacific region. The site has been designed to support LAWASIA's role in enabling an exchange of ideas and information and cooperative work between lawyers, business and government. Information is provided on the organisations membership, conferences and events, sections and standing committees. Issues statements and public resolutions of the LAWASIA council are published online.
