Electronic resource guide to Georgia legal research written by Irma Aladashvili who works for the State Fund for Protection and Assistance of (Statutory) Victims of Human Trafficking in Tbilisi, Georgia, Anna V. Dolidze who is a Candidate for Doctor of the Science of Law (J.S.D.) at Cornell Law School and Nana Patsia who is Coordinator of the Law Library at the Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association. The guide was published on the GlobaLex website in December 2009 (and updated by Nini Gogiberidze in 2015) and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law. The guide provides background and commentary on the history and politics of Georgia. The roles of the President, the Parliament and the Government of Georgia are outlined and the relationships existing between these authorities examined. The guide also looks at the legal system and the changes that have taken place since the Soviet era. In addition there are sections dealing with the court system, local government and the hierarchy of legal norms in Georgia. Links are given to key web resources and Georgian newspapers.
