Scottish Government

Official website of the Scottish Government providing information on the function, history and current activities of the devolved government for Scotland. Details are offered of current activities and other resources in all areas of political policy, including health, education, justice, rural affairs and transport. Recent press releases and the full-text of Scottish government and Scottish Executive documents published from 1983 onwards are accessible. Links are also given to Scottish Bills and legislation on the Scottish Parliament and the legislation.gov.uk websites.

Scottish Public Services Ombudsman

Official website of the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman (SPSO) the body with responsibility for handling complaints about public services in Scotland. This includes local government, the National Health Service, the Scottish Government, housing associations and colleges and universities. The SPSO looks at complaints that have already been through the formal complaints process of the organisation concerned. The site provides information on how to complain and full text investigation reports.

Scottish Social Services Council

The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) was established in October 2001 by the Regulation of Care (Scotland) Act 2001. Its main purpose is to register and regulate the social service workforce in Scotland . The website gives access to consultation documents, information leaflets on social work qualifications and the Codes of Practice for Social Service Workers. There is guidance on making a complaint and decisions of the SSSC can be viewed in PDF. The register of social service workers for Scotland can be searched on the site.

European Agency for Safety and Health at Work

The European Agency for Safety and Health at Work was established by the EuropeanUnion in Bilbao in 1996. Its website provides information about EU legislation on health and safety at work, with links to the full text of directives and related documents. Other information available on the site inclues case studies, statistics and good practice guidance. The site is available in various European languages.

Memorandum search

This website is produced by the Cabinet Office’s European and Global Issues Secretariat. It makes available the Secretariat’s explanatory memoranda concerning European Union legislative and policy initiatives, in a searchable database. This site has now been archived.

European Parliament

The European Parliament’s website offers a large amount of information the institution, its political groups and members. The home page has links livestreamed parliamentary proceedings and news. It also links to the Legislative Observatory and Legislative Train, both of which track the progress of legislation, and to the EP's Think Tank, which provides policy analysis. The Plenary section covers parliamentary proceedings and there is a Committees section focusing on the activities of parliamentary committees. The site can be viewed in any of the official languages of the EU.

European Commission: Competition

Website of the European Commission’s Competition Directorate-General, covering six policy areas: antitrust, cartels, mergers, state aid, liberalisation and international matters. The site includes a substantial database of Commission competition decisions, together with lists of national court cases concerning EU competition law. It also provides EU competition legislation, reports, studies, press releases, notices from the Official Journal and additional information.
