Center for Legal Policy

The Center for Legal Policy (CLP) forms part of the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research, a think-tank based in New York. The CLP is concerned with reform of the US civil justice system and its work includes publishing books, papers and reports and hosting conferences, forums and seminars for lawyers and policy makers.

Center for Reproductive Rights, The (CRLP)

The Center for Reproductive Rights (CRLP) is an American non-profit advocacy organization dedicated to promoting and defending women's reproductive rights worldwide. It focuses on human rights, abortion, contraception, adolescents and female circumcision/genital mutilation. The website provides information about legislation and court decisions as well as publications, press releases and a newsletter; it includes a continually-updated World Abortion Laws map.

Free online directory of US and Canadian lawyers and law firms, provided by legal publisher Martindale-Hubbell. The site also has guidance for the public on various legal topics and an interactive forum for asking legal questions. The directory can be searched by location or subject area. Other resources provided include a law blog.

Donde esta la justica?: a call to action on behalf of Latino and Latina youth in the U.S. justice system

This is the 7th report (2003) by the Building Blocks for Youth alliance, which aims to protect minority youth, who are over-represented in the US justice system and receive harsher treatment than white people for the same offences. Recommendations are made to all those involved with Latino and Latina youth with the aim of resolving these problems. The document is available on the website of the Open Society Foundation.

American Samoa Bar Association

This website has a list of members of the American Samoa Bar Association and information about the courts in American Samoa. The Legal Resources section provides a free online library as a service to the public, containing cases, court rules and codified legislation; the constitution of American Samoa is available here under 'Organic documents'.

American Bankruptcy Institute

The American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) is a membership organsiation for bankruptcy specialists in the United States. Its activities include the provision of education and research programmes, organising conferences and producing publications. The website provides educational material, bankruptcy news, details of conferences and other information. Contents lists from the ABI Journal are available, with full access restricted to members.

Public Justice

Washington DC-based non-profit law firm, founded in 1982 and formerly known as Trial Lawyers for Public Justice. Public Justice brings cases to counter abuses of corporate power, the undermining of civil rights/civil liberties and threats to the environment. Its website has details of its work, including a list of cases, with legal briefs and opinions (judgments) attached. A podcast and a blog are available and there is a sign-up form for the Public Justice newsletter.
