Online guide looking at the legal system and legal research in the Philippines written by Milagros Santos-Ong who is Director of Library Services for the Supreme Court of the Philippines. The guide was published in 2005 (and updated in 2009) on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law. There is background and historical information on the Philippines including politics, government structure and the legislative, judicial and court systems. Links are given to government agencies and local government regions. The section on the legal system looks at sources of statutory and case law and provides guidance on carrying out legal research in these areas. There is also a section on the legal profession and legal education including a list of law schools. The guide includes a bibliography of printed legal materials and details of available electronic sources.
