Guide to the legal system of the United Arab Emirates, by academic Ahmed Aly Khedr and UAE government lawyer Bassam Alnuaimi, on New York University's Globalex website. The guide was published in 2014 and updated in 2024 and gives background information about the United Arab Emirates, an outline of its legal system, summary of the influence of Sharia law in the UAE, and highlights the main provisions of the Constitution. The authors provide a description of how laws are made and links are given for a selection of laws (mostly in Arabic). There is information on the authorities of the Union including the Supreme Council of the Union, the President of the Union and his Deputy, Council of Ministers of the Union, National Assembly of the Union and the Judiciary of the Union. There is also information on the government of the individual emirates, sections on banking, finance and education and a list of links to UAE websites.
