The Legislative Observatory

Alternative title
OEIL
Description:

The European Parliament's Legislative Observatory website, also known as OEIL, consists mainly of a searchable database tracking every proposal through the EU legislative process. All ongoing legislative procedures are included, plus concluded procedures going back to July 1994. For each procedure, there are summaries of key stages in the legislative process and forecasts of future stages. Links to the full text of many legislative documents are provided. The main search screen is under "Procedures"; the "Topical subjects" tab allows you to search for procedures relating to certain subjects; and "Institution activity" focuses on the work of the European Parliament or Council of the EU in the past 100 and future 100 days. In addition to the stage-by-stage legislation tracking information, the website provides various types of factsheet, including synopses of legislative procedures and impact assessments. The Observatory Tracker allows users to sign up for notification of new legislative developments. The site is in English and French.
