Ukrainian Law Firms

Online version of the publication Ukrainian Law Firms: A Handbook for Foreign Clients. The website provides information about Ukrainian law and lawyers. There is an overview of the law in a range of practice areas including banking, commercial, criminal, family, human right, property and tax law. Profiles of leading law firms and practitioners in Ukraine are also available. Earlier versions of the Handbook can be viewed back to 2009.

Brexit and the Legal Sector

This page of the Law Society’s website provides information, advice and insight for solicitors concerning Britain’s decision to leave the EU following the 2016 referendum. There are press releases, news and information on relevant training materials. There is a briefing on Article 50 of the Treaty on European Union (TEU) which sets out the process for a member state to withdraw from the EU and a report on the EU and the UK legal services sector.

Chambers Student

Online guide to becoming a lawyer produced by legal publisher Chambers & Partners and aimed at students. The site is free to access and provides profiles of law firms (based on trainee interviews) arranged by name, location or practice area. There is guidance on pursuing a career in law and the steps students need to go through to achieve this including vacation schemes, training contracts and the Legal Practice Course. The site gives an outline of the various practice areas along with tips on applications and interviews.

Lawdit Solicitors

Lawdit is a UK solicitors’ firm specialising in internet and telecommunications law. Its website has a Reading Room with news items, short articles and case commentary on the subjects of IT, telecommunications and related areas of law.

Bhatt Murphy Solicitors

Bhatt Murphy is a London-based law firm specialising in the legal protection of civil liberties. Its website includes annotated timelines, with links to legislation and official publications, covering the following areas: police misconduct; tariff-setting for life prisoners; deaths in custody; immigration detention; parole hearings; and prison discipline. It also has a news page and a set of links to civil liberties websites.

Pump Court Tax Chambers

This is the website of Pump Court Tax Chambers, a UK set of barristers’ chambers specialising in tax law. The ‘Resources’ section lists full-text judgments from 2005 onwards, available in PDF. This section includes articles written by Pump Court’s barristers from 2010 onwards, which again are in PDF format. There is also a small publications section.

Employment E-alerts

Collection of bulletins providing news on developments in employment law made freely available online by New Park Court Chambers in Leeds. The Employment E-alerts provide guidance and comment on recent employment cases and legislation including links to cases where available. The archive is available back to August 2008.

Immigration Law Center on the Internet

Website carrying information on US immigration law and visas, collated and maintained by Boyd F. Campbell, a lawyer practising in Montgomery, Alabama. This site has regular updates about changes in US immigration law and details of a number of immigration laws pending in Congress. There are essays offering guidance on how to become a US citizen, on employment visas for US businesses and on how to find, hire and work with a US immigration lawyer. All the information is freely available and published in HTML. The site also describes and promotes commercial services offered by the practice.
