Academy of Experts

The Academy of Experts (TAE) is a UK professional body for expert witnesses. Its website provides searchable registers of expert witnesses, mediators and expert determiners. It also includes guidance, forms, a newsletter and details of TAE's training activities. There is a password-protected section of the site for members of TAE.

Cour de Cassation

The Cour de cassation is the highest court in France, with jurisdiction to review decisions arising from lower criminal and civil courts. It deals with questions of law and the application of law, not questions of fact. Its website provides a database of cases from 1947 onwards, together with background information about the court. English translations of some recent judgments are available on the 'International' page.

Out-Law.Com

Out-Law.Com is an IT and IP law website which provides guides, articles, legal news and sample forms for IT, new media and e-commerce companies. It is produced by international law firm Pinsent Masons. The online guides are grouped by business area, including consultancy, e-commerce, games and media. Specific guides within these groups cover issues such as branding, intellectual property, regulations and tax. The guides also feature articles and sample documents. 

Jersey and Guernsey Law Review

Open access online version of the Jersey and Guernsey Law Review (formerly the Jersey Law Review), on the Jersey Legal Information Board website. The journal is published three times a year, and all issues published more than 12 months ago are available. Articles cover a range of legal topics, with some consideration of the influences of English and French law on the development of Jersey law and legal systems in the Channel Islands. A cumulative subject index, notes for contributors, subscription information and details of the current editorial board are provided.

Audiovisual Library of International Law

The Audiovisual Library of International Law is a free multimedia resource compiled by the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs. It consists of the Historic Archives, the Lecture Series and the Research Library. The Historic Archives collection focuses on key legal instruments covering a wide range of international law topics; documentary and audiovisual materials, including video and audio recordings and photographs, are provided for each legal instrument.

Legal Ombudsman

Website of the Legal Ombudsman for England and Wales, set up by the Office for Legal Complaints in 2010 to resolve complaints relating to legal services, such as conveyancing, wills and civil litigation. The site has organisational information, guidance on making a complaint and FAQs aimed at lawyers. There is also a selection of case studies, as well as business plans and discussion papers.

Overview of the United Arab Emirates Legal System

Guide to the legal system of the United Arab Emirates, by academic Ahmed Aly Khedr and UAE government lawyer Bassam Alnuaimi, on New York University's Globalex website. The guide was published in 2014 and updated in 2024 and gives background information about the United Arab Emirates, an outline of its legal system, summary of the influence of Sharia law in the UAE, and highlights the main provisions of the Constitution. The authors provide a description of how laws are made and links are given for a selection of laws (mostly in Arabic).
