Practical Law is a Thomson Reuters subscription database providing a range of resources for lawyers, including contracts, toolkits, documents, practice notes and training materials. A wide range of practice areas are covered including construction, banking, employment, environmental, intellectual property and tax law.

American Civil Liberties Union

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) campaigns, litigates and informs the general public about the current state of civil and political rights in the United States. Its areas of concern include freedom of speech, religious liberty, safeguarding gay and homosexual rights, preventing racial and sexual discrimination, prison reform and issues relating to the death sentence and the abolition of capital punishment. Links are given to relevant cases, news stories, legal documents and blog posts.

Jordan Publishing

Website for the legal publisher Jordan Publishing Limited, which publishes has two imprints: Jordans and Family Law. Although originally concentrating on company law, the range has widened to include all publications for legal practice and regulation. Jordans are primarily focussed on practitioners, providing practical user-friendly printed books, journals, law reports, and electronic publications. The site provides full details of current and forthcoming titles; it has a search engine and subject browsing. A number of publications are available online with a subscription.

ICLR.3

ICLR.3 is the website of legal publisher the Incorporated Council of Law Reporting (ICLR). They publish The Law Reports (the most authoritative reports for England and Wales), the Weekly Law Reports and other series. Brief details of cases can be freely searched using the ICLR.3 database and information on the full (subscription) site is given. There is also a knowledge section and a blog providing commentary, news and updates on the legal profession.

Max Plank Institute for the Study of Crime, Security and Law

Website of the Max Plank Institute for the Study of Crime, Security and Law (formerly the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law) which is part of the Max Planck Society, a German research organisation. The Institute's research interests cover criminal law, criminology and public law. The site has information about the Institute including yearly activity reports, a list of publications and working papers available to download via SSRN.

Legal Island

Legal Island website, providing links to solicitors firms, bar councils, legal databases including those containing legislation, court judgments and sites to assist those engaged in legal research concerning the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The site provides an index of linked resources for both jurisdictions. The pages are maintained by Legal Island Ltd., a company involved in legal conferencing, training and information delivery.

Hammicks Legal Bookshops

Website of the specialist legal bookseller, Hammicks, which has branches in London, Manchester and Glasgow. The online bookshop allows users to search or browse the catalogue of legal titles by author, title, keyword or ISBN. Users can order titles online and check details of their account, if they hold one with the company. The site offers news and updates on legal publishing in the UK, details of exhibitions and events and a page of related web links.

Law Society of New South Wales

Website of the Law Society of New South Wales, the professional association for the solicitor's branch of the legal profession in the State of New South Wales, Australia. The site offers legal, professional and management resources for solicitors including access to the Law Society Journal, Caveat Bulletin, Library Catalogue, Law Society Precedents, information on professional conduct and regulation. Many of these are restricted to members only. Information aimed at the public includes advice on a number of legal topics, dealing with a lawyer and making a complaint.

Westlaw UK

Westlaw UK is an online legal research service for the UK and EU, created by leading UK publishers Sweet & Maxwell. It is a subscription service, accessed by password. Westlaw UK provides a comprehensive collection of legal sources: UK and EU case law, UK and EU legislation, EU official publications, journal articles, Legal Journals Index, textbooks and encyclopaedias, news and business information. The website provides background information, technical specifications, support details and a feedback form for expressions of interest.
