The Institute conducts research and provides "... technical assistance services to state governments and agencies and other public service and community organizations". Programme areas include child welfare; child care; disabilities; substance abuse; employment and training; welfare reform; youth, women's and minorities' issues; and poverty.

Canada Industrial Relations Board

Website for the Canada Industrial Relations Board, formed in 1999, and replacing the former Canada Labour Relations Board. The CIRB is an independent quasi-judicial tribunal responsible for the interpretation and administration of Part I (Industrial Relations) and certain provisions of Part II (Occupational Safety and Health) of the Canada Labour Code. The site is available in English and French, and includes a database of summaries of the Board's decisions passed to date in HTML format.

Each firm listed has information in HTML format about its staff, contact details, main areas of practice, and a guide to doing business in that particular country. Links are provided to other African business and trade sites.

Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms

Website presenting the text of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, included on the official site of the Department of Justice Canada. The Charter is an important statement of human rights policy and is enacted as Schedule B to the Constitution Act 1982 (1982, c.79). In the UK, the Charter is Schedule B to the Canada Act 1982 (1982, c.11). The Charter is presented on the site in English and French language versions in HTML format.

An official service established by the Norwegian central government authorities and the board of the Norwegian Association of local and regional authorities to provide free access to public sector information and services on the Internet supplied by Norway's public bodies at state, county and municipal levels. The service is designed for use by the general public and government officials. The service links particularly to information and statements about the Government, Parliament, Supreme Court, Immigration policy and Labour policy.

Translated Norwegian Legislation

A searchable Web database providing free access to full-text Norwegian legislation (acts and regulations) in English translation. Legislation may be searched by date, number or words in the title. On screen help is offered on making searches. The database indicates dates, document numbering, language and format of the available translations. The translations are unofficial documents and only updated at the time of translation. Possible formats for linked texts include: HTML, PDF or Word. Bibliographic information is given for acts unavailable in electronic format.

Legislative Assembly of Ontario

The Legislative Assembly of Ontario is the official parliament of the Ontario region of Canada. It is based in Toronto. Its website provides information on its structure, current membership and activities. This includes lists of MPs, background information on the operation of the legislative process and details of all bills currently passing through the parliament. Also accessible is the full-text of all Hansard parliamentary debates and committee proceedings from 1984 to date. These cover a full range of social policy, public administration and legal reform topics.

Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering

Website of the Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering (FATF), the intergovernmental body aiming to promote policies to combat money laundering at both national and international levels. The site describes the function and current work of the task force with an overview and explanation of money laundering issues. There is organisational and membership information about FATF along with FATF's 40 recommendations of counter-measures against money laundering and related documentation. There is an online newsletter and a page of related web links.

European Judicial Network (EJN)

The EU's European Judicial Network (EJN) aims to foster judicial cooperation between EU member states in criminal matters and to provide information and advice on mutual legal assistance to legal practitioners. The website outlines the judicial systems of 35 European countries, including all the EU member states. Legal forms are provided and there is a large amount of information about the European Arrest Warrant. There is a multilingual legal glossary (SOLON) and a link to a page of international legal instruments concerning police and judicial cooperation.
