Legislation.gov.uk website is hosted by the National Archives on behalf of the UK Government. It is a free official site providing all legislation from 1988 onwards and most legislation prior to 1988 (apart from secondary legislation). N.B. Many revised versions of acts are offered, but these are often not up-to-date. The content can be browsed by type (e.g. UK Public General Acts, Scottish Statutory Instruments), or searched by title, year, type or number. Users can go directly to sections for United Kingdom, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland legislation.

Ombudsman Association

The Ombudsman Association is a membership organisation for ombudsmen from the UK, Ireland, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man and Britain's overseas territories. The website includes lists of the voting and associate members of the Association. They cover a wide range of topics such as Energy, Housing, Legal Services, Prisons and Probation, and Parliamentary Standards. Entries give a brief note of responsibilities with contact addresses, phone and fax numbers, and email and website addresses.

Expert Witness Website

The Expert Witness website provides a searchable online directory of experts and organisations. The directory covers England, Wales, Ireland, Scotland, Australia, India and South East Asia. Full entries provide information about the individual or organisation and include contact details. The directory can be searched using a simple keyword or advanced search option.

Law Society of Northern Ireland

Website for the Law Society of Northern Ireland the regulatory body for solicitors in Northern Ireland. The site provides organisational information about the Society with contact details for its Council and principal officers. There are downloadable issues of the Society's monthly journal,The Writ and High Court and Court of Appeal, Industrial Tribunal and Fair Employment decisions are provided in full text on the site. A selection of leaflets aimed at the public are provided covering a selection of legal issues such as making a will and buying and selling a house.

Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission

The Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission is an independent body established by the Northern Ireland Act 1998, as part of the "Good Friday Agreement". The Commission aims to defend and promote the human rights of everyone in Northern Ireland through law, policy and practice measured against international standards. The Commission's website explains its work, describes its statutory powers, lists its membership and publishes press releases and other documents.

Court of Appeal in Northern Ireland Decisions

A collection of cases from the Northern Ireland Court of Appeal, available free of charge in full-text on BAILII (the British and Irish Legal Information Institute). Cases are listed alphabetically for browsing by party name or by date. They can also be searched by keyword using the BAILII site search engine. They are available for 1998 onwards. BAILII is a collaborative service aiming to provide public access to primary legal materials for the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland.

Northern Ireland Courts and Tribunals Service

Official website for the Northern Ireland Courts and Tribunals Service, outlining the court structure in Northern Ireland and providing information on services including court lists, fees, information on jury service and support for victims and witnesses. Access is provided to a range of publications relevant to the Northern Ireland Court Service including legislation, press releases, policy documents and targets and performance data. Judgements from the Northern Ireland courts are available to download from the site in full text and can be searched or browsed back to 1999.

British and Irish Legal Information Institute

The British and Irish Legal Information Institute (BAILII) provides free access to legislation, cases, law reform reports and other legal materials from the United Kingdom, Jersey, Ireland, the European Court of Human Rights, the European Court of Justice and the EU's General Court. The cases are from the higher courts and tribunals; most date from the last two decades or so, but BAILII also provides a collection called Leading Case Law by Subject, and many of these cases are much older. Materials may be browsed by jurisdiction, title and year.

Legal Island

Legal Island website, providing links to solicitors firms, bar councils, legal databases including those containing legislation, court judgments and sites to assist those engaged in legal research concerning the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The site provides an index of linked resources for both jurisdictions. The pages are maintained by Legal Island Ltd., a company involved in legal conferencing, training and information delivery.

Committee on the Administration of Justice

The Committee on the Administration of Justice (CAJ) was established in 1981 and seeks to maintain high standards in the policing and administration of justice in Northern Ireland and to ensure that it complies with international human rights law. The website provides details on the purpose and activities of the organisation. It includes annual reports from 1995 onwards, lists of publications and recent press releases and newsletters produced.
