National Assembly of Angola

Official website of the National Assembly of Angola (Assembleia Nacional), the main legislative body of Angola. The site gives details of Assembly members and information on the roles of the different sections of the National Assembly – the plenary, president, bureau and standing committee. Details of committees and working groups are also given. The site outlines the legislative process and there is a copy of the Constitution along with laws concerning the National Assembly and its work. The site can be viewed in Portuguese only.

United States Senate

Website of the United States Senate, the upper chamber of Congress. Provides information about senators and Senate committees.The Legislation and Records section includes schedules and calendars; the Congressional Record from 1989/90 (101st Congress) onwards; and details of Senate votes, ongoing legislation and treaty approvals. The Reference page provides statistics, bibliographies, a glossary and other resources.

Jewish Virtual Library – Israeli Politics

The American-Israeli Cooperative Enterprise (AICE) webpage on Israeli politics. There is information on the formation of a constitution and the structure of the judicial and legislative branches of government. The section entitled Laws and Liberties provides information on freedom of the press, freedom of religion, and background on Supreme Court judgments. The page also provides a link to html copies of the basic laws of Israel.

African Legislatures Project

The African Legislatures Project (ALP) is based at the Centre for Social Science Research, University of Cape Town, South Africa. The project conducts research into the way that the legislatures function. English is the main language but the introductory article in PDF which gives the background to the project is also available in French and Portuguese. Full-text access is given free of charge to a variety of Country Reports, Working Papers, text of Constitutions of the countries covered and Conference Papers.

Latvijas Republikas Saeima

The official website of the Parliament of the Republic of Latvia. Available for the most part in Latvian and English, however most of the parliamentary documents available from the site are in Latvian only. Contains a wealth of information about the structure, operation and processes of the Parliament, from real time work schedules to member profiles, as well as information about how the Latvian legislative processes work. Includes the full text, in English, of the constitution, and laws as passed in Latvian only.

Parliament of Samoa

The official website of the Parliament of Samoa. Clear explanations of legislative history and current legislative structure and operation. Contains full text of the Samoan constitution in English, and clear links to the full text of other important Samoan acts. There are also separate lists of both acts & ordinances, and regulations, which can be browsed by year, and which are available in both Samoan and English, dating back to 1908.

Indian Parliament

The website of the Parliament of India provides information about the lower and upper chambers, the Lok Sabha (LS) and the Rajya Sabha (RS), and about the President of India. There are profiles of MPs and a copy of the Constitution. Full text bills, committee reports, speeches and debates are also given along with schedules of parliamentary business and rules of procedure. The Knowledge Centre section of the site provides access to research reports and other publications.  The site is available in English or Hindi.

Legislative Council

Legislature of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China. The website’s Council Meetings pages provide information about legislative proceedings and make available bills, draft subsidiary legislation, ordinances, subsidiary legislation, legislative papers and parliamentary questions from the current and two previous sessions. A large set of older materials – going back to 1884 - may be found on the Records of the Legislature pages.

Parliament of Australia

The Australian Parliament website has information from the Senate, the House of Representatives and the Parliamentary Library. The documents available include bills, parliamentary debates, standing and sessional orders and a full list of members of both houses. The Information and Research section contains historical lists of members of parliament, governors and prime ministers; election results; factsheets; and procedural guides. The Publications page includes, among other things, an index to parliamentary papers from 1992 onwards.
