Researching the Legal System of Kingdom of Nepal

Online guide to the legal system of the Kingdom of Nepal by Md. Ershadul Karim and Sirjana Sharma Pokhrel. The guide was published in 2012 (and updated in 2023) on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law. There is background and historical information on Nepal and the development of its legal system. The authors provide an outline of the law making process with descriptive links to online sources including relevant websites of government ministries and departments.

Congress.gov

Congress.gov is the official website for United States federal legislative information, launched in September 2012. The service includes bill texts, summary and status information with a timeline feature. The Congressional Record is available from 1989/90 (101st Congress) onwards. There are also member profiles showing legislation sponsored and co-sponsored.

Bodleian Law Library

Website of the Bodleian Law Library at the University of Oxford. The Library’s collections cover many different jurisdictions, focusing on the law of the UK, the Commonwealth, the US, European countries and the EU; it also has substantial collections of materials on public and private international law, legal history, jurisprudence, Roman law and criminology. The website provides information about the collections, electronic resources and services, as well as a set of research guides and access to the online catalogue.

Legal Research Engine

Specialist internet search facility for law, provided by Cornell University Law Library. Users may search law websites generally, or choose from three targeted search options: academic law blogs, selected law websites, or legal research guides. The search faciliities may be used to research the law of many different jurisdictions, but their scope is largely restricted to information provided by US-based websites and by the websites of international organisations.

Tuvalu Primary Materials

Forming part of the PACLII database, this page provides Tuvaluan legislation, including the the 2008 Revised Edition of the Laws of Tuvalu; the Constitution of Tuvalu; cases from the Tuvalu High Court and Court of Appeal; and other legal materials from Tuvalu. The content may be searched or browsed.

Tonga government portal

Official web portal for the Tongan government, maintained by the Tongan ministry of information and communications. As well as providing official links to all Tongan government ministries and departments, the site also provides access to numerous other resources, such as an archive of the state-owned Tongan newspaper The Chronicle, dating back to its inception in the 1960s, official press releases, copies of ministerial speeches, budget statements and business information. Limited search opportunities, but good navigation and browse facilities.

Samoan laws, information and materials

Forming part of the PACLII database, this webpage provides sources of Samoan legal materials and information, including unofficial versions of Consolidated Acts of Samoa 2016, a diagram of the court structure, rules of court, New Zealand legislation which may apply in Samoa, cases from many different Samoan courts, selected Western Samoa Law Reports (1921 – 1993), selected unreported judgements from Western Samoa (1995 – 1996) and some historical documents. The content is searchable or browseable
