Bodleian Law Library research guides

Collection of legal research guides compiled by staff at the Bodleian Law Library. There are guides covering about twenty-five different regions or jurisdictions, from Africa south of the Sahara to the United States. About thirty-five subject guides are also provided, covering a diverse range of topics, including ancient law, tax law, international law, jurisprudence and the law of obligations. There is also guidance on finding particular types of legal materials, such as treaties, legislation and official publications. 

Law in Zimbabwe

Guide to the law of Zimbabwe by Jimcall Pfumorodze and and Emma Chitsove, academics from the University of Botswana. Published on New York University's Globalex website and periodically updated, it gives historical and background information to the law in Zimbabwe and details of the sources of Zimbabwean law, including legislation, case law, customary law and common law.

Guide to legal research in Honduras

Online guide to legal materials of Honduras written by José Miguel Álvarez and Jessica Ramos and updated by Honduran lawyer Eduardo Medrano. Published on New York  University's website and periodically updated, it gives historical, political and geographical information about Honduras and covers the Constitution, structure of government and sources of law. Includes links to government websites, legal associations, law schools and online sources of Honduran laws.

WTO and GATT Research

Online guide by New York University Law Library, covering print and online sources of information relating to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and its predecessor, the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT). Covers agreements, official citations, travaux préparatoires (working documents), sources of GATT and WTO documents and links to other research guides. Also focuses on dispute settlement rules, decisions, secondary materials, statistics, glossaries, news and annual reports.

Immigration law: a comparative approach

Online guide to the immigration law of Australia, Canada and the United States, by Annmarie Zell, a reference librarian at New York University Law School library, updated by Colin Fong, Angas Grant and Daniel Costa. The guide was originally published in 2006 (and updated in 2024) on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School at the NYU, School of Law. The author provides information on key print and online sources covering immigration law for each country.

Islamic Republic of Afghanistan legal system and research

Online guide to the law and legal resources of Afghanistan, by Omar Sial, Md. Ershadul Karim, Qasim Hashimzai and Ahmadullah Masoud. Published on New York University's Globalex website and last updated in 2018, it outlines the legal system of Afghanistan and gives an overview of the executive and legislative branches of government. There is background information on the composition of the National Assembly and the legislative process. Information is also provided on the Constitution with links to online versions.

Blawgsearch

Law blog (or 'blawg') finder, provided by Justia Legal Resources. The site indexes US blogs primarily, but there is some coverage of other jurisdictions. The home page lists the most popular blogs and most recent posts. Users may browse by area of law, US state or country and there is also a search facility. A resources page includes information about blogging software and hosting. 

Researching Kenyan Law

Resource guide on Kenyan law written by Prof. Tom Ojienda of the University of South Africa, Leonard Obura Aloo and others.  Last updated in 2020, the guide is available on New York University's Globalex website. Background and historical information on Kenya are given along with a detailed outline of the legal system, covering the Government, the structure and jurisdiction of the courts and sources of Kenyan law.
