Mercosur Permanent Review Tribunal

Website of the Mercosur Tribunal, the body with responsibility for resolving disputes between member states relating to Mercosur law. Mercosur is the Southern Common Market, a South American trading bloc which includes Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Venezuela and Bolivia. The site outlines the structure of the Tribunal and gives profiles of the arbitrators. Regulations relating to the court and to the Mercosur dispute settlement mechanism, including the Treaty of Asunción which established Mercosur, are also provided along with awards and advisory opinions.

Mercosur Parliament

Website of the Mercosur Parliament (PARLASUR), a forum representing the interests of citizens of the MERCOSUR countries. Mercosur is the Southern Common Market, a South American trading bloc which includes Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Venezuela and Bolivia. The site gives contact details of the MPs, information on the various commissions and on the work of the Democracy Observatory which aims to strengthen democracy and human rights within Mercosur states. The site can be viewed in Spanish or Portuguese.

USMCA Secretariat

Website of the Secretariat established by the United States Mexico Canada Agreement (USMCA) which is an updated version of the North American Free Trade Agreement of January 1 1994 (NAFTA). The Secretariat has sections focusing on the United States, Mexico and Canada. It provides administrative support and administration of the dispute settlement process. The USMCA and NAFTA can both be viewed in full on the site along with the rules of procedure, code of conduct and procedural forms. There are links to related organisations and a selection of FAQs.

Avalos who is Foreign and International Law Librarian and Associate Professor for Legal Research at the James E. Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona. The guide was published in 2021 on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law. The author provides an introduction and background information on the USMCA which supersedes the 1994 North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

WTO iLibrary

This website is the online research depository of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) providing access to WTO reports and key research material on global trade. The library can be searched by theme such as dispute settlement, environment and intellectual property etc., by country or by material type eg. books, papers, statistics or dispute settlement reports. All content can be searched by keyword or by using an advanced search option. Publications are made freely available to read online but a subscription is required to download material.

Society of International Economic Law

The Society of International Economic Law (SIEL) is a global association for academics working in the field of international economic law, as well as for practitioners and officials with an interest in the academic side of the subject. Its website describes the aims and activities of the Society. It has details of the Society’s conferences, with links to the conference papers on SSRN.
