International Criminal Courts for the Former Yugoslavia, Rwanda and Sierra Leone: A Guide to Online and Print Resources

Online guide to the international criminal courts of Yugoslavia, Rwanda and Sierra Leone compiled by Amy Burchfield who is Head of Access and Faculty Services at the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law Library and updated by Andrew Dorchak who is Head of Reference and Foreign/International Law Specialist at The Judge Ben C. Green Law Library at Case Western Reserve University's School of Law. The guide was published in 2005 and updated in 2017 on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law.

International Criminal Court

Website of the International Criminal Court (ICC), which is based at the Hague in the Netherlands. It role is to promote the rule of law and deal with the most serious international crimes: genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes. The founding Rome Statute is available on the website, together with other basic legal texts, information about ongoing cases and annual reports. Background information about the Court is also provided, including details of its history, organisation and management. The site can be viewed in English or French.

United Nations Assistance to the Khmer Rouge Trials

United Nations Assistance to the Khmer Rouge Trials (UNARKT) represents the involvement of the international community in the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC), which was established to try members of the Khmer Rouge for genocide and crimes against humanity. Its website provides information about UNARKT's aims, activities and jurisdictions. It includes press releases, UN resolutions and mandates, court documents, annual reports and financial statements. Materials are available from 2003 onwards.

Trial International

Trial International is an organisation, based in Switzerland, whose aim is to "fight against impunity for the perpetrators accomplices and instigators of genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and acts of torture." Trial International are involved with cases concerning these types of crimes and there is background information and news stories relating to these cases. The organisation's reports can be downloaded in full and there are profiles of the countries Trial International works with. The site is available in English and French.

War Crimes Research Office

Website of the War Crimes Research Office (WCRO) at the American University Washington College of Law. The WCRO specialises in international criminal and humanitarian law providing expert assistance and conducting research for international courts and tribunals. The site has information on the following international courts: the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR); the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC); the International Criminal Court (ICC); the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and the Special Court for Sierra Leone.
