Institute for African Women in Law

The Institute for African Women in Law (IAWL) is non-profit organisation that promotes and supports women in the legal and judicial professions. It covers both the continent of Africa and the African Diaspora. The IAWL maintains professional networks, carries out research and holds events. Its website provides biographical information about African women in the legal sector, including chief justices, judges at international courts and up-and-coming lawyers.

International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals

East African Court of Justice

The East African Court of Justice is the judicial body of the East African Community. Its website provides judgments from 2005 onwards; they are listed in alphabetical order and can be filtered by year and/or type of case. The News section of the site provides lists of pending cases as well as press releases. The website also makes available procedural rules, the Protocol on the Establishment of the East African Community Common Market, the Protocol on the Establishment of the East African Customs Union and the Treaty for the Establishment of the East African Community.

International Crimes Database (ICD)

ICD is a database of more than 600 international criminal law cases from international, hybrid and municipal courts, from 1946 to the present day. It is accompanied on the website by news, academic articles, working papers and other information. Each case record in the database includes a summary, the procedural history, a link to the judgment, references to commentary, lists of instruments cited, details of related cases and so on.

Online (PDF) version of a report published by Human Rights Watch which provides a digest of judgements of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda. The digest is organised by subject including genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, individual responsibility, command responsibility and fair trial requirements and includes judgements available up to the end of 2008.

United Nations Documentation: Research Guide: International Law

A research guide produced by the United Nations Dag Hammarskj¸ld Library. The guide covers the work of the United Nations in the field of international law. The section on courts and tribunals covers the International Court of Justice, International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, the International Criminal Tribunals for Rwanda and for the Former Yugoslavia, the International Criminal Court and the UN Administrative Tribunal.

Avalon Project : the International Military Tribunal for Germany: Contents of the Nuremberg trials collection

Presented as part of the Avalon Project at the Yale Law School, these web pages provide the documentation relating to the trial of the major war criminals before the International Military Tribunal, Nuremberg, 1945-1946. The texts available on the site include motions, orders, rules of procedure, testimony, evidence reports, judgements and sentences, key documents relating to the proceedings and supporting documents. Users can select documents from the listing, or use a search engine to search by keyword.

Inter-American Court of Human Rights

The Inter-American Court of Human Rights forms part of the Inter-American system of human rights, within the Organization of American States. Its website has Spanish or English versions, but most of the content is in Spanish. It offers judgments and decisions in Spanish; the Court's Statute and rules in Spanish, English and other languages; press releases in Spanish; and information about the work of the Court in Spanish and English (etc.).

Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA)

COMESA is an inter-governmental body encouraging economic cooperation between countries in East and South Africa. Member states include: Angola, Burundi, Comoros, D.R.Congo, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Namibia, Rwanda, Seychelles, Sudan, Swaziland, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
