IUCN: Governance, Law and Rights

The IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) is a membership network of government and civil society organisations concerned with nature conservation and the environment. This part of the website provides information on the IUCN’s work around equality, diversity and justice. Topics covered include gender equality, indigenous peoples, legal training, national legal systems and global and transboundary frameworks. A range of materials is provided for each subject such as online courses, publications, conferences and links to environmental laws.

UN Women's Family Law Database

This database maps laws from around the world relating to women’s status in the family and society. Launched in July 2018, it is under development by the Global Women's Leadership Project (GWLP) at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, in association with UN Women. In its first phase the database covers the laws of African, European and Latin American jurisdictions as well as Israel, India and Pakistan; work is continuing on Middle Eastern jurisdictions.

HUDOC-ECRI

Database of documents relating to the work of the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI), a Council of Europe human rights body which monitors racism, xenophobia and intolerance in Council of Europe member states. The database contains ECRI country reports; government observations (responses to ECRI reports); policy recommendations; interim conclusions; and press releases. Basic and advanced search facilities are provided.

Zimbabwe Women Lawyers Association

The Zimbabwe Women Lawyers Association (ZWLA) is a non-profit making organisation which champions the rights of women and children. The Association provides free legal aid, legal education and advocacy and is “working towards creating frameworks that allow for an environment where women and children’s rights are enjoyed and protected.” The site gives information on the ZWLA and its personnel and provides a selection of articles and conference bulletins which can be freely downloaded.

Jurisprudence (OHCHR)

Database of all cases decided by UN human rights treaty bodies: the Human Rights Committee (CCPR), the Committee against Torture (CAT), the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD), the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), the Committee on Enforced Disappearances (CED), the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR), and the Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC).

Socialist Lawyer

The journal of the London-based Haldane Society of Socialist Lawyers, an association independent of any political party. The journal is available the Society’s website from issue 42 (November 2005) onwards. It covers legal developments in the UK and overseas, with a focus on civil liberties and social justice. Past issues of the journal are provided in full, in pdf format, while access to the current issue is limited to selected articles.

Equality Authority

Independent Irish organisation established under the Irish Employment Equality Act 1998 to champion rights to equal treatment. Much of their work is concerned with the The Employment Equality Act , the Equal Status Act 2000 and the Equality Act 2004; it covers issues such as gender, family status, age, disability, race, sexual orientation, religious belief and membership of the Traveller Community. Summaries of legislation and policy and provided, with links to related documents. Key equality acts are available translated into ten European languages, Chinese and Arabic.

Department of Justice and Equality

Website of the Irish Department of Justice and Equality. The site provides information about relevant legislation and law reform work, including the criminal law codification initiative. There are also outlines of Irish law and policy on a range of topics covered by the Department; the Courts Policy page includes information about legal aid. The Publications section of the site provides annual reports, policy reports, bills, legislation and other materials. Statistics, a collection of official forms and information about consultations are also available.

Workplace Relations Commission

The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) is an independent statutory body whose role is to provide a workplace relations service and employment rights framework for employers and employees in Ireland. The WRC provides services to employers and employees relating to good working practices assisting and advising organisations on all aspects of industrial relations in the workplace. WRC services cover adjudication, mediation, conciliation and advice. They also carry out investigations to ensure compliance with equality and employment-related legislation.

Queensland Human Rights Commission

Website of the Queensland Human Rights Commission (QHRC), the statutory body responsible for administering the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 in Queensland, Australia. The QHRC promotes equality of opportunity and deals with complaints that fall within the jurisdiction of the Anti-Discrimination Act. A selection of information brochures are provided on the site dealing with various aspects of discrimination including sexual harassment, age discrimination, gender identity, disability discrimination and racial and religious vilification.
