Buraku Liberation and Human Rights Research Institute

The Buraku Liberation and Human Rights Research Institute (BLHRRI) is a research and training organisation concerned with discrimination against the Buraku people in Japan. Buraku people are a minority group whose ancestors were considered outcasts because of their occupations. The site provides background and historical information, details of BLHRRI's publications and issues of Buraku Liberation News from 1997 onwards; this newsletter can be viewed in English and gives details of events, activities and research along with campaign updates. Guide to human rights protection of minority languages in Africa, by Innocent Maja, Senior Partner of a Zimbabwean law firm and a Lecturer in the Private Law Department at the University of Zimbabwe's Faculty of Law. The article was published in 2008 on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School at the New York University School of Law. The author provides an introduction to the subject looking at various definitions of what a minority language is and the threat of extinction to minority languages.

Sugar Law Center for Economic and Social Justice

The Sugar Law Center is a non-profit organisation based in Michigan in the US, providing community legal support and advocacy, with a particular focus on low-income and displaced workers. Its website has details of its aims and projects. It also provides information about workers' rights and has a page devoted to guidance and advice regarding the Michigan Unemployment Insurance System.

The Safe Workers website is an advice and information resource focusing on workplace safety and UK employment law. The site brings together a collection of articles providing background information and practical advice on a range of employment law topics. Articles are organised by topic, including discrimination at work, employee relations, workplace safety and workplace bullying. All articles can be searched by keyword.

WorkLife Law is a non-profit research and advocacy centre based at the University of California, Hastings College of Law. Worklife Law is concerned discrimination against workers with family responsibilities including pregnant women, parents and those with ageing parents or sick partners.

National Women's Law Center

Website of the National Women's Law Center (NWLC), a US-based organisation concerned with using litigation and law reform to improve the lives of low-income women and their families. Policy documents and news items are provided on issues such as: childcare and early education; poverty and income support; gender equity in education; workplace fairness and flexibility; affordable healthcare; reproductive rights; judges and the courts; retirement security and taxation. The site also has background information about the Center and details of its publications and campaigns.

Lambda Legal

Lambda Legal is a US legal and educational advocacy organisation representing lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and people with HIV who are fighting discrimination. The site provides information relating to Lambda's work and background to legal issues concerning lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. There is also background information to key issues Lambda is concerned with including employment rights, marriage and family law, youth, HIV, rights of transgender people, fair and impartial courts and immigration.
